Menstrual cycle going on 8 weeks now..

Hi, I am almost 17 and I have now been going on 8 weeks of constant bleeding. At first it was kind of heavy but then light. Now it has gotten really heavy. I'm not sure if this adds to it or anything but ever since I was little bitty I have had problems with my nose bleeding a lot. Just yesterday I had 3.. it's scary because of the amount of blood I am losing! What can cause these types of things?

Are you passing gas or stool? If not you could have a blockage and should seek medical help asap

This happened to me an I an anemic. It's not good to let your body bleed like that cause you can die for so much loss of blood so not ignore that. You have no vitamins an iron in your system. Eat when you get up in the morning. But it happened to me an never let your period never stop

Thank you! :) haha no worries here with being sexually active with this girl!but I did go to the doctor, she ran some tests and they said I am very bad anemic. I have lost way too much blood, and they also said I have a hormonal imbalance? They have put me on 2 different pills ones of course the birth control pill and the other is an iron filling. They as well recommended I go see the gynecologist and she also said she'd set me up with an ENT? Not sure exactly as to what that is, but hope this works! Thanks again for your advice and God bless :)

Hello again. I'm sorry to hear about the insurance. I know the feeling as I was before my job. You can try planned parenthood as they do have gynecologists there and aren't as expensive but I've always been a little "iffy" about suggesting planned parenthood as I have heard they aren't exactly the best place to visit and many rush you in and out. As for the chest pains and the ER, did they tell you anything or help you at all? ie; give you any medications, indications it could be from this problem? It is very hard to determine the problem without an exam. I would still advise seeking help from a gynecologist. If you didn't like the one you went to I would find another and I'm sure they have payment plans to help pay for it over a period of time. I'm my opinion when it comes to my health, money is the least of my problems and will find a way to pay for it one way or another but my health always comes first. I would also suggest if they offer and if not to bring it up about getting and internal ultrasound done. This is done with a probe that is put in the vagina instead of looking from the stomach. This way they are able to get a clear view of your uterus and ovaries and to see if anything is going on with them as they can't just tell by giving you a physical exam or looking at you. As for the chest pains, it could be from stress if you are very stressed over this. Take it easy and don't push yourself and relax a little. I highly doubt that it is from this problem but there is always a chance so I don't want to tell you no and be wrong. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest going to the store and getting iron supplements to replenish the iron in your body. When we have our periods we lose iron in our body. After our periods are over, over time it replenishes itself but seeing as how much blood you are losing I would HIGHLY suggest starting iron supplements right away. Loss of too much iron can lead to anemia as well as other severe helth problems.

Hello lrh97. Im a licensed medical assistant and will give you the best medical advise i can. I advise you to see a doctor regardless of if you take my advise or not just to be safe. I would definitely advise you to see a gynecologist as soon as possible. You should not be bleeding for that long. Some women have shorter periods, others have long. I myself ranges every month between 2 and 6 days. You didnt mention anything about sex. If you are sexually active or have been in the past i would advise you to get tested for any stds and for PID (pelvic inflammatory disease). Stds can cause vaginal bleeding and especially PID. PID can also be cause by and std that goes untreated for too long. If you get tested and are clear of anything i would say talk to your gyno about going on birth control. There are many options (ie pills, shots, patches, IUD) as this should help regulate the bleeding to once every month for several days as well as regulate the amount you are bleeding. I hope i helped you a little and as i said it is up to you if you would like to take the advise i have given you but either way i do suggest seeing a doctor. Hope everything works out well for you and good luck. (:
