Methotrexate - has anyone opted against it?

Has anyone been told by their OB that they will need to have a Methotrexate shot, but may not have an ectopic pregnancy?

I'm waiting for hCG lood results which I should have early afternoon.  My levels were a 7 on 5/1 and a 7 again on 5/3.  The doctor thinks there may be an error at the lab so she wanted me to have the bloodwork again today to see.  Now, she also said that even if my levels are at 0 or close to it (meaning <5) she will still want me to have this shot.  I had a D&C on 3/23 and she thinks that maybe that the hCG is left over from that...

I really don't want to have this shot.  I bled on 4/30-5/3, very light and I don't want to bleed again so soon.

Any thoughts and/or comments will be greatly appreciated.

You had a D&C on 3/23 or on 4/23? Was the bleeding from 4/30-5/03 your period? Or could it have been implantation from a new pregnancy?

I personally had very little bleeding after methotrexate. The bleeding that I did experience was probably due to the D&C that I had the same day as the shot. If your levels are 7 and not rising, it seems like they will drop to 0 soon.

The D&C was performed on 3/23.  I didn't have any bloodwork done after the procedure, however, I'm almost positive that my hCG went down to 0.  I "think" I ovulated since I had such an abundant amount of EWCM around the 13th of April.  I'm not sure if the light bleeding I had on 4/30-5/03 was my period.  That is why I'm having all this bloodwork done.  I'm pretty sure this would be a new pregnancy (however, it may be a chemical pregnancy).  How soon after the Methotrexate were you able to try to conceive again?

I received my bloodwork and it is a negative number which is really good news.  I don't have to have the Methotrexate shot and we can try again right away....

Thanks and baby dust to all you TTC'ers.  Hopefully my next BFP will stick!

Okay, so your levels are back to 0- that is good news. To answer your question, it took 5 weeks before my levels got to 0 after the shot, but they were over 5000 when I had it. 2 weeks after that, AF arrived, but I had to wait to TTC because my doc wanted to run a test on me.

Anyway, I'm glad you received some good news. I'm hoping you receive even better news in the near future!
