Metrogel-Vaginal

by adflkhwyeldhdxd, Aug 06, 2006 12:00AM
Hi, I recently went on Metrogel-Vaginal for bacterial vaginosis.  My doctor instructed me to use it twice a day for five days and then once a day for four weeks to prevent recurring infections (I have been diagnosed with BV before).  Has anyone had any experience with this medication, because it is making my discharge a weird consistency...kind of like melted toilet paper if that makes any sense.  I am on the fifth day of the medication and the irritation is gone, but it's hard to tell if my dischcarge has returned to normal because I'm inserting the gel twice a day.  Thanks!

Hey there.  I have used the MetroGel before and that "melted toilet paper" discharge is normal, I have the same thing when I was taking it.  I also did a ton of research while I was taking it and there were tons of other posts with women experiencing the same discharge.  I don't know why they don't put it in the side effects, but I think you should be fine.  Hope all goes well.

i say...who cares what the discharge consistancy is and as long as its helping to clear up the infection! i would definitly attribute any unusual discharge consistancy to the gel you are using. once its all cleared up your discharge should "resume" normally.

it will go away, you can call your doc if you would like.  But most women have the same kind of problem.
