Mirena IUD Pregnancy Symptoms

I have had the Mirena IUD since January of 2009. Had no problems, had regular to light to spotting periods. Periods always either two days early or two days late but never late. Fast forward to 2012, after having the IUD for 3 1/2 years, I am not starting to feel pregnancy symptoms: tender/sore breasts. 8 days late on my period. Soft bowel movements 2 to 3 times a day, frequent urination. I took two home pregnancy tests both came back negative. Took a hospital pregnancy test, it also came back negative.

My question is: Did any of the Mirena IUD users took a hospital test and it came back negative, but it TURNS out you were pregnant after all?

They did not test my blood. They tested my urine in the hospital and said it was negative. I had no idea there was a blood test to determine if I was pregnant or not.

Hi,
As mentioned in the other post, serum HCG test is about 98% accurate but false positive or negative test results may occur.  When the test is negative but pregnancy is still suspected, the test  can be repeated after 1 week.
If pregnancy should occur with Mirena in place, the device should be removed. The risks of ectopic pregnancy is high if this is the case. It is best that you check with your doctor for proper evaluation.  Take care and regards.
