Mirena IUD pregnancy symptoms

Hi guys!  I had a mirena inserted in march 06, i bleed for 2mths straight and then stopped, and got a normal period a month later.  I am 3weeks over due for my period, im always tired, frequent urination, weight gain (eating heaps)...and feeling sick like i want to vomit.  I have also had problems with my bowels (which is common in my pregnancies).  I have three children already oldest is 3 and the young 8mths.  I have got pregnant on the pill, the implant (in the arm)...and im scared im pregnant again.  I had a home preg test which came up neg, then a week later it came up lightly positive.  Just to make sure i took another one three days later and it came up neg.....what is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love Rosalind

Between 5% and 10% of Mirena users may experience:

    Headache/Migraine
    Acne
    Depressed mood
    Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding

Less than 5% of Mirena users may experience:

    Vaginal discharge
    Breast pain or tenderness
    Nausea
    Nervousness
Inflammation of cervix, vulva or vagina
    Pelvic pain during your period
    Back pain
    Weight increase
    Decreased sex drive
    High blood pressure
    Pain during intercourse
    Anemia
    Unusual hair growth or loss
Skin irritations (such as hives, rash, eczema or itching)
    Feeling bloated
    Swelling of hands and feet
    Expulsion

Every individual responds differently to medication, so talk to your healthcare provider about your individual risk factors and to see if Mirena is right for you.

Mirena does not protect against STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) or HIV. So, if while using Mirena you think you or your partner might be at risk of getting an STD, use a condom and call your healthcare provider.

I had the Mirena put in almost 5 years ago and I will be getting a replacement. I was on many different birth control pills which all seemed to come with the normal side effects -weight gain, depression, excessive bleeding, lack of sex drive, etc. Although I bleed for 2 weeks post-insertion and off and on for the first few months, my periods literally stopped after the first year. Do you know how amazing it is not to get your period for 4 years? Amazing. I have experienced a decrease in my sex drive, but it just means that my partner and I have to work a bit harder on the romance-this isn't a bad thing! I know that everyone's body is different, but it seems like some of the negative feedback needs to be countered. Remember people that are happy with the Mirena don't troll these sites.

Hello I've had my Mirena going 3 years now i started the symptoms about 6 months after getting them (i have a child) i am 18 and i still have the symptoms. my breasts are tender, an i sometimes lactate, and i have gained so much weight, i stopped gaining weight after 20 extra pounds was added, I'm always tired, and have mood swings from hell i feel like I'm gonna cry at the drop of a hat, i also pee ALOT, and my emotions are still out of whack. my son will be 3 this year in November. I've take HPT and blood at the Dr but they have come out negative but that also happened when i was pregnant the first time i didn't know until 2 an a half months in. what should i do? Could i be pregnant?

I have heard this before.  I have now been to the DR 3 times, have given 7 tubes of blood and they still don't know what is wrong with me.  I made an appointment for Tuesday to get the IUD removed because I still feel as if i am pregnant.  I mean, my stomach even looks pregnant, i can't keep sucking it in because it is really starting to become uncomfortable and harder to do as it is just growing and growing.  I can let you know what the DR says when I see him on Tuesday?!
