Missing periods.

Hello. I am 18 years old and have very regular periods. In November, my period never showed and I was suddenly getting night sweats. But then it came in December (it was a month late), and the night sweats stopped. This totally freaked me out so I went to the doctors and had tests done (pap smear, blood, urine, and I also had an ultrasound). All the tests came back normal and nothing seemed to be wrong. My period came again in January and all the months up until May, which I skipped again. I'm not stressed and I'm average weight, also I don't over exercise. I'm not on any medication either. I just want to know why my periods are suddenly being so unpredictable when they were previously normal?

Did the doctor not do blood tests to check your hormone levels?
If not then that is what he should test you for.

Like boop_your_head says it is a good idea to keep a record, either on a menstrual cycle chart on in your diary of your periods and the symptoms that you get even a few days before the start of  your  period.

Yes he said that my thyroid and iron was fine and that wasn't the problem. I called my doctor in January to check the results and they said they found nothing wrong in any of the tests... But if my periods are becoming irregular wouldn't that mean my hormones are off?

When you say the doctor did blood tests, do you know if he tested your for iron deficiency, thyroid problems as well your hormone levels?  Any of these would make your periods irregular.

Make sure you eat properly and drink your water so that you do not become dehydrated.

If you start getting night sweats and other symptoms related to your period, you may be suffering from Premenstrual Syndrome sometimes called Premenstrual Tension.  You may find that evening primrose may help as well as a healthy diet.

I trust that you are not sexually active, becasue that could mean a pregnancy.

Best wishes.

I had a friend back in high school who went through the same thing. She was regular, and then became very irregular. All of the tests were normal. You may want to consider using an app like My Cycles to track your periods and any symptoms you may be experiencing.
