My mother had a routineRoutine sputum culture exam yesterday. There was a lumo, maybe more than one - didn't catch that, in her breast. The doctor also found a polyp on her cervix. I've been trying to do a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys research and see what that might mean. Most of what I've read seems to tell me not to worry...I just wanted some advice from real people. She's going for a diagnostic mammogram Monday and we won't have her PapPap smear Pap smears and cervical cancer results back for a week and half. If anyone knows anything, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
I have heard of cysts and polyps are normalNormal saline flush to find on the cervix and ovaries, especially if she's had several children. My mother had a lumpLumps in the breasts in her breast too, they removed it and it turned out to be benine(sp., not harmful). Try not to worry so much, it's a natural and commonCommon cold part of life. It doesn't necessarily mean anything other than they will probably both need to be removed.
I had a polyp on my cervix when I was 19. They found it during my annual exam that year. It was this little tiny polyp sitting in the opening of my cervix. It was no big deal at all. They scheduled me to come in for an outpatient procedure and then grabbed onto it with a little tool and basically twisted it like an apple stem. It popped right off and I've never had any problems since; normal paps every year. They tested the polyp after they remove it and a few days later they told me it was benign.
My doctor told me about a polyp he found at my last PAP. Actually, he only told me about it after he tried to take it off and it was too painful for me at that moment. We made arrangements for me to come back and have a little painkiller to talk it off. The doctor told me the polyps are common and they usually just twist them off without the patient being any the wiser about having them. As it happened, when I went back to have it removed, mother nature had already disposed of the polyp and the doctor didn't have to do anything. Agina, he siad this is rather common.
