Month long period and thick blood

I've tried many different Birth Controls, and none have seemed to stop my bleeding. This summer I had a period starting every tuesday and lasting for a few days. Now I've been bleeding for a month and wednesday it started being heavy. Today I noticed a lot of thick strands that were whitish in the blood. My gyn is calling in a new pill for me but I wondered if anyone had opinions about what it might be.

I'm 18, and no kids. I've been trying different pills since last december, and the strands have been happening the past few weeks.

How old are you? Any kids? How long has this been going on?
