More about the past few days... just want to know if I should be prepared...

by MrsCarrie, Mar 13, 2006 12:00AM
I recently went off of birth control (18 days ago) due to problems with the hormones. My husband and I are trying natural family planning, but we made a few mistakes. We aren't 'trying' to have a baby but if we did it would be a blessing regardless of if we planned it. My last menses ended on March 2, I then experienced a few 'wet' days followed by dry days. During these wet days there was no change in my body temperature. During the dry days my temperature also stayed the same. We had unprotected sex on March 11, during the day. That evening I experienced mucous, which could also be from the semen. The morning of March 12 I had a full degree temperature change-- I had been between 97.8 and 98.0 the days previous and the 12th was 98.6 up to 98.8 around bedtime (and I feel fine). Today I woke, March 13, and had more mucous after protected sex and only a slight temperature increase (98.2). What are the chances that I may have ovulated the day before the spike and my temperature just isn't 'as high'? Thanks for all the help, either way we'll be happy but we'd like to know what we are working with.

Also, I am on Claritin D. Would that have an effect on anything?I took the first Claritin on 3/11- the day of the unprotected sex. I don't think that could cause the huge temperature spike, but I'm not sure.

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that my cervix is high, soft and open and as of now there is mucous, but I'm not thinking it's egg whitish though people say I could easily miss that.

A new development to what's going on with me.  I am having stomach aches and some back pain, the stomach pain usually happens around time to ovulate.  I'm just feeling really crampy today, though my period just ended less than 2 weeks ago.  When I go to the bathroom and wipe I see a slight pink color.  I think that's way too soon for implantation bleeding, that takes 5-7 days right?  It's been 3 days so I think it's too soon.  Now I'm really beginning to get worried that something's going on...

First you need to RELAX!! if you are not worried about being preganat then just chill and wait a couple of weeks then take a HPT. Hope it goes the way you want it to.

Have you read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility"?  It will really help you understand how to avoid or acheive pregnancy based on your own body signs.  When you have wet CM, you are either fertile or approaching your fertile days.  There should not be a temp change during your wet days.  Your temp should only increase AFTER you O.  A temp increase of 1 degree may or not be significant, depending on what type of thermometer you are using.  If you are using a thermometer specifically designed for BBT, then a 1 degree raise may mean you Oed.  You need to see 3 consecutive raised temps, above your coverline, before you assume that you Oed.  Also, when your cervix is soft, high, open, and wet, this is a sign that you are fertile.  You are not going to be able to determine pregnancy based on your cervix this early on.  Kellibug is right.  You're are just going to have to wait until you are late for AF and take an HPT.

Thanks ladies.  I am definitely much calmer than today and have just put it all in God's hands.  If we get pregnant, it's wonderful and part of God's plan, if we don't we will know better how to work NFP and will try to wait another few months.  All signs show I did ovulate as my cervix is now closed, it happened overnight.  My temperature is still elevated, so I will wait the next 2 weeks and then test.  Thanks so much!
