First, sorry to post here, but the maternal board is full. I am 7 weeks, 5 days pregnant. For the past week or so I have really been feeling my m/s. Everything I read says to eat something in the a.m b/c this is supposed to help. The problem is, when I do this, it actually makes it worse. I've been eating applesauce and crackers in the a.m., but then I always end up throwing up shortly after. After I throw up I feel better and eating doesn't bother me. Is this a normalNormal saline flush variation on m/s or is this something I should be concerned about? Sorry if this is a dumb question. This is just very new to me.
I just wanted to share something with you. When I went to my hairdresser this weekend she showed me her wristbands for morning sickness, she is 7 weeks pregnant says she was hanging over the toilet for a week until she got them. Its an accupressure type treatment. She swears they work really well. You can buy them at the drugstore.you could try them.Personally I have been a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys nauseous, but the full m/s has not kicked in. Good luck and take care!!!
I have heard of those. I have an acupuncturist I was seeing until recently. I thought about asking her if she had anything like that. Glad to hear that they seem to work. I hope your m/s stays in check. Vomiting every single day is not fun!!
Well, for some reason they say to take them on an empty stomach. That was not working so well, obviously. I want to take them with my lunch now, b/c that tends to be my biggest meal. I did not take my vitamin yet today, and still threw up after eating.
Poor girl, told you not to worry about M/S, once it hits, you wish you never wish for it. The waist band is called Sea-Band and My friends said it works well. I don't have much M/S anymore just occasionaly. I still don't feel too pregnant except for my frequest urination, tireness, and being hungry all the time. I hope youare doing well!
The only time m/s becomes a big concern is if you get dehydrated or seroiusly underweight as a result. Between Jonathan and Tristan, I was in and out of the hospital due to dehydration from m/s. I started drinking boost right away with tristan, it helped ensure I got some of my vitamins as I literally threw up every prenatal I took.
You might just have to play around with different foods until you find the one that doesn't make you throw up. Also, do you throw up if you don't eat anything or is it just when you have these foods? Try different foods like cereal and different flavored crackers. Breads are best since they make you feel full when you're really not. Sometimes, it doesn't matter what you eat. You're probably going to throw it up anyway. That's the beauty of being pregnant. I used to throw up right after I brushed my teeth, before eating anything in the morning. It was better because nothing was in my stomach and it was very quick with no terrible aftertaste. Then I'd have to brush my teeth again, but I felt better for the day after throwing up.
Yeah, I don't recommend taking them on an empty stomach or when your m/s is the worst (like a.m. versus p.m.) Take them whenever you can keep them down. I was wondering if you were following a strict guideline of taking them in the morning and that's what was making you sick. I had to stop and barf on the side of the road from taking my prenatal in the morning, so lunch or dinner time worked better for me too.
Everyone's morning sickness is unique and yours does not sound like any indication of a problem whatsoever. It's just the joy of being pg. :-)
Experiment with different foods and/or juices to see if it helps. But if it simply feels better to not eat anything in the morning, then don't eat. Don't force yourself. Besides, if you're just throwing up anything you eat then there's no difference between that and not eating at all. Your appetite will should pick up after your first trimester - I was a very light eater during my first trimester too. I actually lost weight in the beginning and went on to have an 8lb 12oz porker. So, don't think you're hurting your lil' bean.
Thanks, everyone. I don't think I have severe m/s, it's just not what I expected. I'll be so glad when I can eat normally again. Hopefully the m/s will end in a few weeks.
I forgot to add, more than with my prior pregnancies, this one seems to be blood sugar related. With Jonathan and Tristan, it didn't seem to matter, I was sick no matter what. I have had issues with my glood sugar running low as long as I can remember, but this time around I tend to notice it makes the m/s much more pronounced. A quick fix for me is either a couple sips of juice or a few small pieces of candy like jelly beans or something similar. It seems to hit my system a lot faster and the smaller portion keeps me from throwing up. Once the sugar hits my system, I can start thinking about something better to eat. Of course, it took until Easter to realize this, lol!
I dont have any better suggestions than the ones already given...i didnt have m/s. My sil does though but hers stems from not eating. she doesnt want to get fat!!! she is 5mths and has gained nothing. she actually lost 15lbs. she will refuse to eat and then be sick the entire day. she has been hospitalized for dehydration but still does not eat. No one can get through to her. She claims she just cant eat but we all know that isnt the case. So I agree just getting a lil something in you is better to get the blood sugar going til you can eat something substantial. good luck
Take your prenatals with food...I work in a pharmacy and its says not to take with food but it actually helps. Mine were making me sick till I started taking them with food and I talked with the pharmacist and she agreed that taking them with food would make you less sick. When you eat the crackers are you still laying in bed. Ive heard that if you eat a few before you actually get out of bed will help.
