Need early pregnancy advice

by HopefullyMommy2B, Sep 26, 2006 12:00AM
Tomorrow I should be about 6 weeks pregnant.  I am sooo afraid of having a miscarriage.  I really am not having any traditional pregnancy symptoms, which scares me even more (already been to the doc a week ago to confirm pregnancy).

As I've posted on here before, I do have cramps here and there (normal AF cramps).  I was having some back pain a few weeks ago, but not now.  I've had the briefest moments of breast tenderness, but I think I may have been imagining that because I am expecting it.  I really don't have any nausea... I'm not complaining, but it worries me.

Is it normal to not have symptoms at this stage?  If so, when will I get them?  Is it possible to have a miscarriage with no real signs of one?  If so, how will I know if I've had one?

Thanks so much!  This pregnancy means the world to me, which is why I'm so afriad of losing it.

Hey relax. You can have no signs of pregnancy and still be normal. There are lots of women with no symptoms till about the 3rd month. My friend had no symptoms at all and was surprised to see the baby in the ultrasound in the 10th week. She went on to deliver a healthy baby girl.Dont get tensed....enjoy ur pregnancy.Best of luck

Yes, it can be totally normal to not have any symptoms at this point.  With my DS I was exactly like you, having period-like cramps but nothing else.  Around 8-9 weeks I started feeling nauseous.  You may never feel morning sickness, but probably within the next 4 weeks you'll at least get some breast tenderness.

Good luck!!  I'm sure everything is going fine, especially if you've had zero bleeding.  :-)

I DIDN'T HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS WHEN I WAS PREGNANT.  I WORRIED FOR THE LONGEST TIME THAT EVERYTHING WASN'T GOING TO BE OK.  THEN I REALIZED THAT I HAD TO STOP WORRYING SO MUCH.  JUST RELAX.  THE MORE YOU WORRY THE MORE YOU WILL STRESS YOURSELF OUT AND THEN THAT COULD END UP HURTING THE BABY.  YOU ARE LUCKY IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS.  MOST WOMEN EXPERIENCE IT ALL.  I WAS VERY FORTUNATE AND I KNOW WITH THE NEXT ONE I PROBABLY WON'T BE SO LUCKY.  I AM GLAD THAT I DIDN'T HAVE SICKNESS OR PAINS DURING THE FIRST AND SECOND TRIMESTERS!  CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY!  JUST ENJOY YOUR PREGNANCY AND RELAX.  IT WILL ALL BE JUST FINE:) CONGRATS!

Thank you!  You all have made me feel much better.  I'm sure I won't be able to stop worrying altogether, but I will try to relax more!

Plus, I'm still only 6 weeks.  I'm sure all that "fun" stuff could be just around the bend!

I agree with everyone else's comments.  I've heard that some women are lucky enough not to have too many symptoms.  So...try not to worry too much.  I've never had a miscarriage, because i've never been pregnant...however miscarriages seem to run in the women in my family.  Each time my sister had a miscarriage, she knew right away because she had severe cramps and heavy bleeding.  If you're not having that, i wouldn't worry too much.  best of luck to you and congrats!

I had very few symptoms and most of the time wouldn't have even known I was pregnant.  I did get really hungry from about your stage onwards and of course the huge bulge is a giveaway.  Try to relax and enjoy this time.

I am also 6 weeks pregn. And have no symptoms but a pos. preg test. I too am worried. I have 2 children and just remember the breast tenderness. I don't have a Dr. appt until 10/16. I do have slight back pain but no vaginal bleeding. I don't feel tired although I do run 4 miles a day so I am hoping that is the reason( better physical condition). I am tired at night but that could be from caring for my other 2 kiddies. I hope everyone  who posted a reply is correct, and we should just enjoy this pregnancy. I was relieved to read someone else feels like I do physically and mentally. I feel like I just think 24 hrs about this baby and every little twinge I over analyze. AAAAHHHHH..... This sounds weird but I hope you get some symptoms soon so you can relax!!

I am also about 6 weeks pregnant and not having any symptoms except occasional light cramping so I am sure everything is OK. Unfortunatly I work in a doctors office and I run lab work on myself my HcG is 6,932 which is great but my progesterone has dropped 1 point this week and now I am freakin out. My first appointment is 10/9/06. Good luck to you :)
