Need suggestion for sleeping

Hi Guys,

i am in my 27 th week of pregnancy. i have a hard time in sleeping.one happy thing finally i can able to sleep on my left side for atleast 15 minutes. after that i have to turn from left to right.

my question is : i heard from my parents that they are saying while turning from left to right we have to getup and we have to turn to right side. samething from turning to right to left. The reason they are saying is if i turn from one side to another without getup. The umblical will swirl around babies neck. that's the reason they are saying.

i asked my ob-gyn she said that's not true. i tried one day it's very difficult to sit then turn. did u guys heard this one? if so is it necessary to follow that?

please share your experiences.

I've never heard of that before, it sound a bit ridiculous to me.  And I found that if I took 1 tylenol and 1 tylenol PM before bed I could actually sleep for about 4 hours straight.  Before that I could barely get to sleep and would turn constantly.  And Tylenol PM is safe to take when your pregnant I checked with my Doc., he said the sleeping aid in tylenol is actually just Benadryl.  Good luck, I hope you can get some sleep.

You can sleep in whatever position you like, turning any way you like without fear of the cord getting wrapped around the neck from your movements.  It is not recommended to sleep flat on your back though.  It can cause compression of a major blood vessel behind the uterus, and decrease the blood flow to the baby.

The umbilical cord is around the babys neck at birth approximately 30% of the time.  It generally is of no significance.  Occasionally, it could be tight enough to cause harm, but there is no way to predict if it will be tight, and turning and your movements have NOTHING to do with the cord being around the neck anyway.

Good luck to you!

I would listen to the doctor over your mother on medical issues like pregnancy.
