With my experience when you are in the hospital after delivery they have a pad or sanitary napkin that they provide for you.  They are wonderful (believe me) I couldn't find them anywhere.  I would ask the hospital that you are to deliver in what brand and size of pad they have for women after delivery.  I, unfortunately never did ask, and after I ran out of them, and couldn't find them anywhere, I wound up with severely stained clothing and sheets, but with the ones they gave me I was well protected.

The hospital will most likely give you some to take home. I never spent money on "postpartum panties" I honestly don't know if such a thing existed when I was having mine and I just wore what fit and what was comfy. By the time you come home, any heavy flow pad should do the trick, just change as often as needed. If you have clotting larger than the size of a quarter, call the doc. And they will let you know how much flow is too much when discharged from the hospital.

Hey there, the first few days after birth you will probably bleed pretty heavily they say that it is okay to pass a few blood clots especially if you have been laying down for a while. I would use the heavy duty overnight pads for the first few days and then the bleeding would slow down. everyone is different though and you will just have to go with what your body does and any brand is really fine whatever you like will probably work. Congrats on your boy-to-be and enjoy the last few months of you preg.

I don't know of anything specifically called postpartum panties.  Just buy some comfy cotton panties, like Hanes, or something.

As far as pads, just buy some Kotex pads.  They're thick and you can get them with wings too.

Thanks for all your valuable suggestions.

My nurse recommended depends, usually used for incontinence, they are a little thicker than normal pads and have a soft cottony surface.  They are super absorbant.

I bought plain old ugly "granny panties" Hanes her Way Hi cut briefs and some store brand incontinence pads. The regular pads provided by the hospital were no match for what came out of me but the incontinence ones with the built in belt covered me front to back and I never had a leak (BTW, I am only 10 days PP myself)

Hey I wish I had the fishnet panties!! They always gave me those stupid belts and we are not talking about 100 years ago either! Big Ole pad, belts and straps hanging and tied in knots with bare booty showing. Giving birth is such a glamorous job!LOL

I used the incontinence pads with adhesive, no belts and they were great.

I also thought I looked hot in those fishnet panties.  Especially with the big empty buddha belly hanging over the top.  I don't know how my husband could keep his hands off me!!  lol

ALthough I never bled bad I just thought it was never gonna end (lasted 10wks pp even though I bf for 8mo so I became a pro of pad wearing btw af pads & breast pads:)LOL Good Luck!!!

Hey I just wanted to add a little bit of info.. After my first was born, I did the normal bleeding for like 4 weeks and then it stopped. But about a week later it started back up again and totally freaked me out. I mean come on it was enough already... So I called the Midwife to tell her thinking something was wrong. Nope, just AF. Guess I expected her to hold off for longer than a week so it scared me. So don't be freaked if after you stop, it starts right back up again.
