No one knows why I'm fainting I really need help.

I'm 18 years old and I have been passing out since I was 13.
The first time it happened I completely passed out on the toliet cold and I was rushed to the er.
At first they said it was because of my meds that I were recently prescribed so I stopped taking them.
Then I started to always feel dizzy and I would know beforehand that I was going to pass out real quick unless I layed down.
After a lot of doctors visits they told me I had vasovagal syncope and put me on batablockers. Those helped for the most part to get me at least walking and having a semi-normal life but now even the batablockers seem to not be working.
My symptoms include: cold feet, heaviness in my feet, knees, legs, and sometimes my head, my vision gets the black and red blotches like when you get a photograph flash, pale, and i feel hot.
I do not have diabetes, or anxiety and I feel like no doctor is ever going to help me figure this out. Please help me live a normal life.
Also, I have always had low blood pressure.

I have orthostatic hypotension.  Basically i faint when i stand up.  I was recently diagnosed with Nuerocardiogenic Syncope.  Check it out on the web and then talk to your doctor.  I faint like you do and would love to hear what your doctors have to say.  I see a syncope specialist in Jan.  I'll let you know how that goes

hello
i don't know if this will help, but you said that you passed out while using the toilet right?..
were you having a bowel movement? i ask you this weird question, cause sometimes if you strain while having a bowel movement, you can put pressure on your vagus nerve and that can cause one to pass out. once you come too, there is really no other signs . kinda like when (in the movies) you see some one getting put into a choke hold then they fall asleep . the vagus nerve is very sensitive so if you stool is formed (on the harder side of bm's) then try taking some stool softener to see if that helps

Hello!
Not too long ago I had a patient who was an elderly woman and had a history of syncopal episodes her entire life. She had a diagnosis of "hypersensitive vagal nerve response" where the vagus nerve was triggered by rapid position changes and sudden emotional "swings". If she was suddenly frightened or laughed too hard, she'd pass out. No medication really helped her, she just learned to manage it and be near something she could sit or lay on when she felt it starting. She was tested for seizures, Addison's disease (too much adrenalin released into the system when triggered), cardiovascular problems, low blood sugar and endocrine issues but nothing was found besides the hyperresponsive vagal reactions...I don't know if this will help you, but if this is your condition, it may help knowing you aren't the only one...:) ~MM

I'm no expert by any means, but its possible for your equilibrium to be offset, causing you to faint. It sounds odd i know, seeing as you would assume you'd be off balance, but not necessarily. i only know this from personal experiences and had the same problem with a close friend of mine. Also on another note, Multiple Sclerosis(MS) is another possibility, my mother has it and all of those symptoms describe her to the T, at least, b4 we got her on her medicine :) if that be the case, its relatively easy to keep in check ;) sorry if this doesn't help, but i figured i could at least give ya something to ask ur doctors to check for. Mainly cuz most tend to overlooks MS in younger patients. Hope they find out whats wrong soon!

keep your electrolites up, and salts, control you blood pressure if that is possible, take an iron supplement - palafer is good- or at least have your iron tested, eat steak, I have fainted about five times, there are lots of different causes. but the docs know best.

I'm sorry, but if the docs cannot help you, there is little enough assistance that you can get from a web site.  I would just insist on seeing a new specialist whenever your last diagnosis fails, until finally you find an answer.  Also, google all your symptoms, and note all the things it could be, and then discuss the entire list with your best doctor, and see if each thing has been examined.  Good luck!
