Not sure what's wrong

Ok. So this will be a little long but please bare with me. A little background...I'm 14 and I'll be 15 pretty soon. I started my period when I was ten, it's always been irregular. Im in pretty good health. I'm at a healthy weight. I'm active as I play soccer. Towards the beginning of this year I noticed my side hurt awfully when I ran. And I could tell it was not what people call 'side stitches' because it was lower. So I went to the doctor about it and found that my left ovary was swollen. She gave me antibiotics for it that I had to take for 7 days. I made sure to take the whole round and it helped for a little while. And for a while it would only hurt occasionally when I ran. But recently it's been getting worse and it's every time I run. Last week it hurt on both sides, as if both my ovaries were swollen. Ok. My boyfriend and I made the choice to have sex, and it was my first time...so he was in or whatever and it hurt so bad. I was close to crying. I know your first few times or something is supposed to hurt a little but this wasn't just a little. This felt like something was bad wrong. And I was just wondering if maybe possibly I'm just overreacting or if I need to do something about it? Please please help because it's actually really scaring me

It sounds like you have ovarian cysts on both sides, one that hasn't gone down and another that came later.  This is not really a matter of taking antibiotics, you need an ultrasound.  Cysts can get huge.  See an ob-gyn.

In the meantime, don't have any more sex.  You could certainly get pregnant, or an STD.  It's going to be hard to talk to your doctor with your mom in the room if you are having sex.  The doctor will suspect you have an ectopic pregnancy if you keep having sex and then have these symptoms.  You are only 14.  There are a lot of reasons to stop being sexually active at least until you get over the cysts -- it is NOT going to start to feel better without some medical help, so don't let your boyfriend make you feel worse.

If I were to have cysts, what's the normal treatment for them? And what ARE cysts exactly?

Some ovarian cysts can get as big as a canteloupe, and believe me that is not fun.  I am not saying you have this for sure but your symptoms sound like it.  Your doc will need to do an ultrasound of both ovaries to see what is going on, and I would think if he or she does not order an ultrasound I would be shopping for a new doctor.

I'll definitely try to go back to see my doctor soon, and I sure don't plan on having an sex until I know it'll be ok. Thanks so much for your help. At least I may have an idea of the what the problem could be.
