My RE is starting me on clomid this cycle. I am really nervous about it because I already tend to O on my own, just can't seem to get pregnant. All of the success stories I have read have been from womenWomen's way who didn't O on their own and clomid worked. What about those of you who O'd on your own and still went on clomid - did it work for you and if so, how long did it take?
Thanks.
Mollie
Well if you already ovulate on your own, Im confused as to why your dr. would put u on Clomid. Im currently on Clomid, becuase Im not ovulating right now and Im TTC. Clomid is a very good drug though. It increases your chances 40% when taken. My advice would be to ask your Dr. why you are being put on a drug that helps you ovulate when you are already ovulating, becuase there may be another cause of your lack of O. Well good luck and I hope all works out for you.
I concur with Peach. Clomid is handed out tooo freely...In fact it was given to me too, and I have never had a problem with ovulation or any other female issues...never even had an irregular pap in 15 years. I took it for 6 months and didn't get pregnant on it.....since then, I have conceived 3 times on my own...ASK YOUR DR. WHY YOU NEED IT!!! I SHOULD HAVE!
I agree with peach and pixi.I ovulate on my own but since my last 6 months in ttc have been unsuccesful,my doc put me on clomid for 2 cycles. The only difference i saw was delayed and very light period and horrible pms.I dont think clomid should be taken if u r ovulating naturally.Dont know why docs prescribe it without reason.
I was also started on clomid by my RE just this month. Its not going well. I took it for days 5-9 and didnt ovulate at all. The ultrasound showed no mature follices and the blood test level showed that I didnt respond to 100mg. He then put me on 150 mg for days 15-20, which is strange. I usually have a perfect 28 day cycle and I get a surge on the LH strips at day 14, so I usually ovuate on my own. I am frustrated, but I saw some good information at this link www.inciid.org. It was under clomid use and abuse and said that clomid can also affect estradiol production to ensure fully mature follicles and can also increase progesterone in the luteal to prevent premature menstruation. This info made me feel a little better.
