Off Depo how long to get period

Hi, I'm 25 and I have posted one other time on this board. I was wondering how long it takes to get your period after you come off of depo? I have been off of it for almost a month and I have had no signs of a cycle. This is my second time using depo and the first time I came off of depo I had my period within 3 weeks. This time nothing. What should I expect? If its not the same as last time.

Was on depo for three yrs. Got of this past Feb. Been having cramping but no period and breast tenderness. Is this normal after getting off depo? And how long on average does it take to start your period back up?

I was on Depo for 7-8 years
Recently got off on feb 23 16, within a week I had spotting and now 2 1/2 weeks later I'm bleeding. Bleeding is constant, tho heaviness is irregular. Depends on the women. I seriously think dietary habits play a role in how soon you see a period as my diet is extremely clean(fruits, veggies, protein)

Hello,

I had the depo shot about 3 yrs ago for 1 yr & still have not had a period! It's been a little over 2 1/2 yrs stinker I have had ANY cycle. I am 23 yrs old. Starting to get VERY worried about my body. I also do not CURRENTLY have health insurance. Any suggestions on natural things to help? I have been researching like crazy. I have an Appt with a dr coming up that I am paying out of pocket for.

I was on depo shot for 5yrs straight(now22) due to prolonged peroids lasting weeks to months and eventuall leading to an iron infusion which was why I was on it so long. I am now off. Got off last july and it took me 11 months to start them back.

It takes a year for your cycle to get back normal. Whenever your last injection was count from that month to a year

I was on the depo for about 2 years and I was only 16 when my doctor put me on it for medical reasons. My last shot was in the middle of October 2010 and I still haven't had a period or even spotting... should I be concerned? My doctor didn't tell me all the side effects and risks when she put me on it and I have learned since that teens are recommended not to take it...what should I do?

I have been on the Depo since 1998. I took 2 breaks in that time. The first break was maybe 6 months in which no cycle had come. The second break I waited for the cycle which came after one year. Within that same year of evaluating that it would take one year for the cycle to come back I went back on the Depo and finally in 2010 decided to quit it for good to let my body go completely back to normal. It has been a little over one year and still no cycle. So if it has not come back in another year I will really start getting worried but maximum time I will wait before I know for sure something is truly wrong with me is if I have reached the third year off Depo and still nothing. Women are having babies much later in life so I wouldn't panic too much about having a baby later on in life except for the anxious feeling of wanting to experience it now. Everyone's body is different. Like for instance a year off Depo hasn't given me back my cycle yet but I can tell things are changing and trying to revert back to normal. My breasts are extremely tender around a certain time of month. I am also exhausted and achey around that time. Liquids are thin as if to make it easy to conceive. I feel the reproductive system aches and cramps. I spot sometimes very lightly. So far just light, annoying spotting from time to time and not every month but it seems like the only thing that hasn't happened is a normal cycle. So I know it's on the way. I would like to say, before you mess yourself up more with chemicals and hormones trying to rush your body back to normal, I would say give your body some time to do things on its own first. I would say wait three years max if you are not in a big rush to get pregnant and if you have that kind of time. If you are not having some real emergency to get pregnant right now, I would say try and give your body some time...even if you are anxious to be pregnant. Nature has a way of working things out on its own but if you don't get any results within three years....I would say something truly is wrong and the body may need some assistance. Long term exposure to Depo does mess us up to some degree...I agree... but our bodies are devinely made and we should give it the benefit of the doubt before making things possibly worse assuming our bodies need help when it could be well on its way already. Three years max is the longest I would wait for a non-emergency. Meanwhile I will just do healthy things like taking the Women's One A Day vitamins or I heard taking Prenatal Vitamins is good too. Not both...lol. One or the other and eat something before taking these vitamins because you may throw up if you don't have food in your stomach first. Drink water, natural juices, eat healthy things and all things in moderation. Don't torture yourself with crazy diets but just include good things in your diet and eat only until you are satisfied. Don't eat too late at night. Drink water late at night but if you must eat then make it something light like grapes or popcorn. The body needs to rest at night instead of working all night to digest food eaten late at night. Exercise is good even if it is just walking. I just walk one mile out and one mile back. Really it is not that far. I just go at my own pace and stretch the muscles you work after exercise. Try to quit smoking if you smoke. Go at your pace and seek assistance because I can imagine that is easier said than done as well as with drinking too much caffeine. Okay I will stop here. With all this I said here, it was because I too am trying to get my natural rythm back again. I pray us all our wholeness and well-being...both physical and spiritual.

I was due to get my shot July 6 2010 and also have no sign of a period. I've been taking monthly pregnancy tests just to be sure, and I'm definitely not pregnant. I read on a depo website that it takes the "average" woman 3-6 months to get it back.

yeah my first period took 2 months to come back after i expected it to after depo i had all the usual pregnancy symtoms and felt for sure i was but just my hormones getting back on track and have had 5 cycles now and am only just back to regular i have gone up to 56 days inbetween cycles .However you could be 1 of the lucky ones and actually be pregnant try taking another test in a week and if still no and no sign of period go to docs for blood test to find out what is up .good luck xx
