On Prometrium and trying to concieve

by princess084, Jun 28, 2006 12:00AM
I am 21 yrs. old and trying to concieve. My OB/GYN put me on prometrium 200mg for days 1-10 of my cycle. He said it would give me a normal 28 day cycle. However I had some spotting 1 week after I was done with the 10th day.  I am on day 37 of my cycle and still no period.  I took 2 HPTs and they were both neg.. I called my Dr. and they told me to start taking the prometrium again to induce a period.  I am just worried that maybe I could be pregnant and would that hurt the baby and can I really concieve on prometrium.  I have been trying so hard.  That is why I cant believe that I am not pregnant yet. Please help. I dont know what to do!!!

Hi I am 27 years old and my husband and I have been trying to conceive for about a year. My doctor just prescribed provera and clomid. Provera to make me have a period which worked and now I am taking clomid to make me ovulate. Today is the first day I took clomid and I bought ovulation tests to make sure of when I am ovulating. My doctor is very confident these medications will work and that I will get pregnant soon. I know your pain when you try so hard and still are not pregnant. Maybe ask your doctor about provera if the medication you are taking does not start your period. Also if you dont think you are ovulation I would ask your doctor about clomid- One of my friends did not have a period for over a year after she stopped taking birth control pills. Then her doctor started her on provera and clomid and now she is 4 months pregnant. Best wishes and I hope that baby dust is showing you soon.

Prometruim should not hurt a baby as some doctors keep patients on the prometrium suppositories for the first trimister.  My daughter was put on them for the past 15 days after ovulation and if  her pregnancy test is positive will stay on them for 12 weeks. SHe tested on Tuesday BFN but still has not had AF.  SHe will test on Friday again and if there is a negative  she will go off them.
