I know you all get these kind of questions all the time!! I have been on BC for almost a year now. I notcied when I started OrthoOrtho cyclen Ortho evra Ortho micronor Ortho tri-cyclen Ortho tri-cyclen lo Ortho-cept Ortho-cyclen Ortho-est Ortho-novum 1/35 Ortho-novum 1/50 Ortho-novum 7/7/7 Tri-LO I put on appox. 15 pounds with in a month and gradually have been gaining more. Well I figured my body was getting use to something new. Well I have been trying to lose weight and it seems impossiable. I used to weigh 115 now I weigh 150. To my height and body mass I am over weight. To me that is a huge diffrence. My Finace swears it is the BC and wants me to get off. I dont want any children right now, so I refuse. But I am so miseralbe being this way, I am always in a bad mood and I noticed I pick fights now. I can stand to look in the mirror, actually I took them all down. I dont have health insurance right now and dont know what to do. Does anyone know what I should do? I am not 100 % it is the BC but that is the only conclusion I can come up with. Is there any alterntives? I cant use condomsCondoms Female condoms, elergect(spelled wrong) to Latex. If there is any advise, would be very greatful. Thanks in advanceAdvance care plus Advance relief.
well, i just posted a b.c. question, so let me try to help you with what littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys i know. one thing that i can say as far as insurence goes, is to go to a health clinic, the free county clinics. thats where i go for my birth controll stuff. i know it isn't TOP NOTCH medical care, but they aren't idiots. if you qualify (poor enough :) ) you can get your b.c. pills for free, and they can give you some advice about other pills that might not cause wieght gain for you (i know alot of b.c. pill side effects mention weight gain). but maybe another one might work, and not cause the weight gain. i know stress is a biggy too. if you can find a good stress relief program for you, that might help too. good luck!!
Thanks, is there any suggestions what other kind of BC that has not made anyone gain weight. I know this question depends on the person but I only know of Ortho-tri LO I havent heard of any other brand.
I used Ortho Tri Cyclen for about 5 years. They worked well for me, however not sure how close they are to what you are already taking. Your physician should be able to direct you, hopefully. Good Luck.
Weight gain while on BC happens all the time... It's the 'birth control bloat'... You might have to experiment with differnt kinds of birth control to find out which is best for you. Talk to your doctor and explain the weight gain and that you want something else. Everyones body reacts differently.
In the meantime, watch what you eat and get some exercise.. that should help.
I was on Alese and did not gain any weight in the year I took them. Typically BCP's make you gain weight but the one you are on may have too many hormones for your body (the reason for the mood swings). Ask your Dr or go to the health department and ask for a BCP with lower hormones.
As for condoms..heres some info:
Plastic or polyurethane condoms are a non-latex, hypoallergenic alternative for those with a latex allergy. Because they are plastic, you can use oil-based or water-based lube with them. They are stronger and thinner than latex condoms, as well as nonporous and non-permeable to all STDs including HIV. So, they are just as effective as latex condoms.
Other contraceptives:
There is also the Patch, Nuva-ring, Spermicides, female condoms, diaphragm, sponge, cervical cap, IUD's, and Depo-Provera (which I do not suggest to take...if you are moody now then it will be worst with Depo).
Hope this helps!

I am also on Alesse (or Aviane, the generic) and I asked my doctor this very same question. She said that gaining weight on BC should only be 5 lbs max. She said if we gain anymore it's not because of the pills. I don't know how true that is...I also gained weight since being on the pill...but I'm also on other meds, too. But you might want to ask your doctor about some other medical reason for the weight gain. That seems really quick to put on 35 lbs (I hope that doesn't sound offensive...I don't mean it to be). I'm just wondering if there could be something else going on that could have caused it. Good luck!
I agree, from 17-42 I was on birthcontrol, each yr,with mostly famous" buterrflypack 28day otho V"5-7lb wt gain..Dr told me,if the wieght is in unusal place's,oddly enough its the birthcontrol as he pointed to my neck, chest, back fat!
