Oral Thrush Through Sexual Contact?

Recently i was diagnosed with a yeast infection and around the same time my boyfriend noticed that he had a red rash on the head of his penis. It was really faint and so while i was still recovering from my infection i performed oral sex on him. That night, he said the rash had gotten a lot worse and he thought that he has a yeast infection too. So basically now I'm freaking out that i have oral thrush. Can you get that from sexual contact?? and how soon will i know if i have it?
