Outer Vaginal Odor

by missT90, Jan 08, 2009 09:01AM
I have this Nasty Odor After about an hour of having my jeans on. It is not inside my vagina, it is just a smell beneath my panties. I have no problems, bump, itching or anything like that. Its not an infection. I got medicine for it last year thinking it was maybe bacterial viagnosis but it wasnt. I smelt it all winter, i didnt smell it in the summer time, now i'm smelling it again this winter. I've even stopped wearing tight pants and still smell it through my jeans and when i go use the restroom. I feel as if everyone can smell it, especially in my office at work. I sit down all day and dont move around much and when i come in my office i smell it. Is it just me? am i too sensitive to the smell? My husband says he doesnt smell anything but I do..If anyone else has this problem please help me, what can i do to make it stop, i've used feminin sprays, wipes and powders and i still smell it..

using aby products will do more harm than good aquarding too most doctors or women.  they cause infections and ichiness....one way to prefevent infections and odor is to take a shower daily and to wash in that area wish any body soap and if you are to do so, u will have  fun filled no worrie no ordor winter:]

I have the same problem but only when I'm breastfeeding, then it goes away. I read somewhere that it is teh apocrine gland that may cause this. But I can't find much information on it. It is still there on me and I shower twice a day because of the odor. My husband can't smell it either. But I can. It is driving me crazy. I called my doctor for a physical.

i have this same exact thing! i have had this for years, and actually just posted a qestion about this in another forum..anyways. I have been diagnosed with nothing from my doctor 2 times, and diagnosed with a cervical infection and bacterial vaginosis (like u had mentioned)  from planned parenthood. I can not find any answers either and its really embarrasing because i can smell it through my pants after about an hour or too, i have found mine to be brought on worse when im in a hot environment, but it still happens everyday....i also feel that people can smell it and im really embarresed by it. i know how you feel...im going to planned parent hood again tues ill give you an update see if they can conjure up a new infection that i have

Ok so I'm not crazy.  My hubby also says he can't smell anything and of course, he gets closer than anyone including me.

Believe me, I know what you are experiencing, as it was a major stress maker in my life for many years. I have tried everything, including the wrong things, such as odour maskers, perfumes, cleansers, feminine products, you name it, and have come to the conclusion that in absence of abnormal pathological conditions, Alice's bottom simply has a proper smell. Stronger than I would like, and efforts to abate it don't work. I have come to terms that it is just ME. The good news is that it is in all likelihood more noticeable to you than to anyone else.

I agree that we are more sensitive to our own odours than others, which is perplexing when a mate or lover says they cannot detect it or finds it non-offensive. Check off all the usual possibilities (BV, or bacterial vaginosis is the vastly most common cause of the famous "fishy" syndrome, so rule that out), but at some point, you may realise that your smells are just a part of your biological makeup. I would be surprised if this anxiety didn't trace back to Eve!! Please take care and have a wonderful week, all. Cheers, Ali

I wonder if this is something hereditary because my sister, mom and I recently talked about this and found that all three of us experience the same strong smell. I was told by a doctor that not wearing tight jeans will help and it's also good to go for light colored breathable underwear (cotton). Also my cousin who has the same issue said she uses deodorant on her legs around the area and that that helps keep the sweat minimal which she thinks assists with the odor as well.
