Ovarian Cyst symptoms, with no ovary?

Two years ago I had my right ovary removed. Four about five years I have had a lot of cysts. Mine are not functional cysts because most of time they just do not go away during my cycle. Last month ago I had an MRI done that showed a 6cm complex mass in the left adnexal region. Well my OBGYN had just done a diagnostic lap two weeks prior so he was not concerned. He did up my dosage of BCP although this has never really help in the past. Well for the past four or five days I have been having symptoms of a cyst in my right lower pelvic area (there is not ovary there). Trust me I know the symptoms of a cyst and a painful one at that. My yearly is scheduled in two weeks where im also due to have an US to see if the other mass has gone down in size. My question is...is it possible to have a cyst in that area but with no ovary! This is just weird because im having the same exact symptoms as I did with the ovary and the multiple ovarian cysts I had, but how is that possible with out an ovary to produce ovarian Cysts!!!!!

That's good.  Stay on it.  I see you also posted on the OC forum.  You will probably get a lot of good responses to you question.  See what the ultrasound tells you and hopefully your doctor will be proactive.

Sorry, I misunderstood about the timing on the cyst.  Was the MRI first, then the lap?  That's the way I read it.  Whatever is going on...keep pushing for an answer.

Take care!

When the doctor did the surgery two weeks prior there was not evidence of the 6cm mass.  It was classified on the MRI report as an Adnexal mass, not even sure if it was on my ovary!  So I just dont understand how something can get that big in two weeks!  I have called my dr to see if he can get me in sooner!

Hi, did your doctor see any signs of endometriosis?  If so then it can attach anywhere in the abdomen.  I am wondering why a 6 cm cyst was left in place?  That's big.  Especially if it is complex.  You'd think the doctor would take it out for biopsy.

I'm glad you are going back in 2 weeks for a look.  I would ask why the cyst was left in you.  If you aren't fully satisfied with the answer then I'd go get another opinion.  I really hope the doctor doesn't continue to try BCP to get it down.  I don't think it will help.

Why don't you try posting this on the Ovarian Cancer forum.  NOT because I think you have cancer!  Just because most of the women there have had cysts of some kind or another.  There's a lot of trusted information on that forum.

Last year I had a cyst on my right ovary.  But..all my pain was on the left.  I nearly called the doctor a liar because I had NO pain on the right.  I ended up having to get the ovary and cyst removed and it was endo.  I'm having more issues now on the left.  I guess my point is that you have a very large cyst and it can cause referred pain on the oposite side.  The doctor thinks my cyst was pushing my uterus over towards the left.

Anyway...please post what your doctor finds.
Take care
