Ovarian cyst was asperated , now I am depressed !!

by witsnd, Feb 27, 2007 12:00AM
I was diagnosed w/ an ovarian cyst. I have had so many abdominal surgeries they didn't want to take a chance and open me up again. I am 45,I have an ileoanal reservoir ( j-pouch ) because of Ulcerative colitis. I only have my left ovary. It took some convincing, but I finally got some help for the ovarian cyst. I was told the pain might be in my head ! I kept going back, asked for a CAT scan and there it was the CANTALOPE size cyst. They asperated it, the pain is getting better, although they were not able to take all the fluid. What is that doing to my hormones? Now of all things, I feel moody and depressed. They said if it fills again they will go in and asperate again. What about my emotional state? I'm afraid to say anything about it. Are my emotions going to be up and down and up and down? I am tired and want to be normal. I am on 50mgs of zoloft and do not want to go higher as this whole thing started when I lowered my antidpressant. I think my system is very sensitive to any change. What should I do? Will this subside or am I just doomed to live in this hell forever? I feel like nobody listens to me, and nobody cares about how I feel. The doctors have said things to me that were inappropriate. The list goes on. One thing I noticed, when the cyst was still large , I had pain, but my emotions were stable. Does this say anything?

Please help, Thanks

I am so sorry for your suffering.  I don't know if I can help you that much, but I want to try.  You have many reasons to feel emotional.  Any chronic condition and pain will cause this as well.  The Crohne's disease, surgeries and being without an ovary would be enough by theirself to make you feel this way.  I hate that some doctors don't listen to their patients.  Stick to it and go somewhere else if you need to.  Someone has to listen to you.  Maybe you need to have a dr change your meds or add one.  There are so many out there that can help.  Don't give up.

I'm sorry, I meant ulcerative colitis instead of Chrone's disease.
