Ovulation / Cyst Question

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the board..so please excuse me if I'm not totally familiar with all the acronyms commonly used on here...

Okay so my boyfriend and I have been TTC since April and it's not working. My cycles have always been irregular- on average my AF comes every 32 days. Usually it is not "fresh" when it does come, and really only lasts a day, maybe two- max and there is very little almost  (sorry if that's too much info). My LMP was 9 Aug 2007 and last week on the 22nd, I expeirenced pain in my left ovary. I thought that I was getting ready to ovulate and the next day I noticed the EWCM. (Again, sorry if I'm oversharing) My boyfriend and I did the BD the following day (he was working the 23rd) all the while I had ongoing pain and aching in my left ovary area. Sunday I noticed it was very tender, to the touch even. It felt like someone had kicked me in the gut! I got a very quick sharp pain then it was gone. I saw my GYN today, and she said that it felt like I have a cyst and scheduled me for an ultrasound tomorrow. She said that sometimes when a woman ovulates the hormones produce a cyst and the pain I'm feeling may be because the cyst didnt break up yet. My question is- does that sound right to y'all?  I did some research online and it said that I would have gotten the cyst because I failed to ovulate and produced the cyst instead! I'm wondering if I am even ovulating at all or if I'm producing cysts instead. I have had cysts before but nothing serious that didnt go away on it's own. Do you think the pain that I felt was actually ovulation? I'm hoping it was. And another thing, how long after you notice the EWCM do you actually ovulate. No one can ever give me a straight answer. I'm asking because I noticed it last thursday afternoon, and we didn't BD til early early Friday AM, and I'm wondering if I missed it. I'm sure all of you are going to say go to the DR, and I am- it just seems that I'm not getting straight consistent answers anywhere. On a side note, I have an appt w/ an OB for the 7th to find out what's up also. But like I said, I never get consistency. I just want to know how long I have once I see the EWCM until I ovulate or how to tell if I ovulated versus producing a cyst. I highly doubt that I am on a normal cycle wherein I ovulate 14 days after my LMP. Please help. Sorry If I rambled on...

Men are mostly stupid. haha. I'm convinced.

I had the ultrasound & the Tech/ Nurse whatever she is, said that I did in fact have a cyst (duh) but that in her opinion (based on 18 years of exp.) was that it DID rupture the way it was supposed to and ovulation had occurred and that the cyst was going away based on the Drs initial exam. I'm not sure how she came to that conclusion but it was good enough to make me happy. My next appts are on the 7th and the actual U/S hasnt been seen by my Dr. yet. So we'll see.

Today my boobs are feeling heavy and tender. Nothing extreme though. I was super tired this weekend but everything I've read says its way to soon for any of that, so maybe Im just psyching myself out? Sometimes they do get heavy like that but I'm about 8 days out from my expected period so maybe I'm just getting ready to start.... I havent taken any tests yet. I dont want to be disapointed again. :( So I'm just trying to convince myself that im NOT pregnant (but still taking vitamins and not drinking) haha. That way Im not setting myself up for disapointment in a week went Aunt Flow makes her usual visit.

According to "Science" I *should* have ovulated the 28th which only puts me at around 5 or 6 dpo. I dont want to get a big fat negative and get sad. So Im just going to wait until next week and see what happens....

Thanks. :)

I forgot to mention that I DID have ONE Depo injection in July 2006. I decided not to continue it because a friend of mine got really really fat and she blamed the Depo. I'm sure the donuts and Jack In The Box she was eating had something to do with it, but I decided not to take my chances. haha.

See, that's what I mean about consistency. Everything you see online, says contact a Dr. after six months of trying and being unsuccessful. So that's what we did. I saw my Dr yesterday and she said you should contact them only after a year. So wtf?  But my Dr is proceeding with all the tests and examinations as I requested to see what's wrong w/ me. Why won't your Dr do the same? He is employed by you, he needs to do whatever it is that your requesting, within reason of course.

The thing is my cycles were right at 28/29 days then for some reason in May- everything got all wonky. I had a period May 21 then I didnt have another one til July 7. So I was like ?? I totally thought I was pregnant! But then it came, and not to gross you out, but usually it's not 'fresh' it's more like brown spotting for a few hours, I have very light periods. Not lasting more than a day usually and I only use the lite size and it barely goes.

And that's exactly how my pain was. It started last week on the 22nd and was a constant dull ache. Buy Friday I felt very tender, like a muscle injury near my ovary. It was tender to touch. On sunday it had pretty much dissipated, but I got out of bed and felt a sharp pain, then it was gone.

hi,
im having the same sort of problem.
Me and my partner have been trying for a baby for neally a year now but now luck and my doctor has told me to wait till we have been trying for over a year before he can examing me and see if i can get pregnant or not (as you can understand its really stressfull not knowing)
My cycles have always been irregular since i come off the injection but on average my period comes every 33 days (can be late or early depends how stressed i am as stress can course it to be delayed or early)
Im not shore if you do but when my i sort of know when my period is coming because i have a brown disscarge (light) for one day then bleeding for around 3 days then back to brown disscarge for a day (light agen) and i think i was due to ovulate on the 21st to the 24th of april so me and my partner have very much been trying in these dates.
I also expeirenced pain in my left ovary, (mine was a couples days after the end of ovulation) it was more like acking musle pain and a little pain from time to time and whent after around 4 days at the most.
there is a site where you can test your ovulation date, hear is the site below
