Pain and vibrating sensatons

by Bekki, Oct 21, 2006 12:00AM
I am 53, post menopausal. I have had a few of the common symptoms....those wonderful hot flashes and vaginal dryness.
However, I have had a myriad of other symptoms....that I assume are related to the hormones fluctuating. I hardly ever had any pain, other that back pain throughout my life. But now? I have pain in many areas, and NO, I do not think it is fibromyalgia. Neither does my doctor. I have shooting pains in the front of my neck, and sometimes under my left shoulder. BUT - I also have weird, vibrating sensations off and on, under my left shoulder. Mainly on the left side.
Does anyone else out there in menopausal land have these strange vibrations? They feel weird, but there is no pain with these vibrations. Could it be nerve sensations? Please let me know if there is anyone else who has this strange symptom? I also have pulse pounding MUCH of the time. I quit smoking, and this has eased up some. But I have truly suffered with alot of the change-of-life symptoms. Please share your experiences with me and others. Thank you all you women warriors! We sure go through alot!

Not sure what to tell you...i haven't had the pleasure of experiencing menopause yet:)  However I know several people who have....I don't think the symptoms you describe are typical of menopause, but i'm also not a doc.  you said you saw your doc about this.....or at least that he didn't think it was fibromyalgia.  Maybe you should ask your doc for a referral to a neurologist....symptoms remind that of MS (however MS i think generally shows up earlier in life)....but definitely get checked out sooner rather than later.
