Pain during sex-- could it be a hernia?

My most recent sexual encounter was very painful, and I never have pain during sex. When my partner was inside of me, it felt like he was putting pressure on something that shouldn't be there. It felt like intense pressure, and like I really had to pee, but I didn't.

I was speaking to a nurse recently about how sometimes I have these protrusions and pain on my lower abdomen, and she suggested I may have a hernia. I looked online and the pictures I found of a hernia look exactly like what I have had, though they come and go.

I have read that hernia's can cause pain during intercourse. Does a visible inguinal hernia tend to correlate with an internal hernia? Are my feelings of "feeling like I need to pee"/"feeling like my partner is touching something that should not be there" consistent with a hernia? My doctor didn't know too much about hernia's and suggested I get a CT scan, but my insurance won't cover it, so I'm hoping to get some feedback on the forum so I can plot my next steps.

Thank you.
