Pain with Clomid and high Progesterone levels

by Lea2001, Jul 18, 2006 12:00AM
A few months ago I was put on 50 mg of clomid.   When nothing happened, my doctor incresed it to 100 mg.  With the increase I had some pain in the abdomen area.  When we had the IUI, I had alot of pain.  I told my doctor and he did an exam (he thought cysts), but it was OK.  The third month the clomid satyed 100 mg, but I had alot of pain with the IUI.   It felt like my uterus was sitting on my tailbone.  And when I went to the bathroom, I felt better.  Has anyone had problems like this?   I think my overies were overstimulated and possibly swelled, but I am not sure.   Can anyone give any insight?  I am frightened about going back on clomid if I am going to have pain like this again-- It really hurt!

Hi, I've taken 3 courses of clomid so far.  Last clomid course progesterone level was 28, which is high enough to conceive.  My doctor never put me on a higher dose, because he knows I am ovulating because of the progesterone levels.  I don't know if you specifically have problems with ovulating or you don't know what else your infertility is due to.  Clomid has a high risk of cervical cancer later on in life, if I had a choice to take a lesser dose if I know I am ovulating I will definitely take it.  As your levels were 28 before,it sounds like your ovulating.  Many sites on the internet will tell you that 28 is high enough to conceive.  The pain you are feeling could be your ovaries overproducting eggs, please don't put your life at risk.  My D/H and I have been trying for 18 months now, I don't know how long you have been trying.  But I know it is a very difficult time.  It is all I think about now, but with these clomid tablets I don't know whether it's ruining my insides, so when we do have a child, will we be able to have a second or third?  I hope this answers your question.  Goodluck with everything.

I myself is currently on Clomid. I've been trying for the past five years with no luck. I had one etopic pregnancy which left me with only one fallopian tube (salpingotomy).

Since it is now 3:20am...today, I will have finished my 5th day of being on Clomid. I haven't had any pains at all.

I don't know if it is just me? Or maybe its the Clomid, but I've been more sleepy lately than ever. I find myself taking naps in the day when I used to never do that.

I'm 36 years old now and have a 10 year old. I hope the Clomid will help me conceive.

Good Luck!

thank you for your insights.   I am ovulating properly, or at least the blood tests say I am.   I think if I am going to go back on the clomid, I'll ask for the lower dose.   The doctor also gave me the option for the injectables, but I know they are more expensive and ... well... it a needle that I am not real eager to get.   We have been trying for over two years and I feel like it is all I think about.   But who can blame me really?...   with all the reminders we have everyday.  But I don't want to damage anything, either.  And when I do have my chidren, I want to be around for many many years.
I loved taking the clomid, though.  They made me very happy.   i guess it's the estrogen.  :-)
