Painful sex

by LittleTiny Me, Aug 25, 2006 12:00AM
Me again, my curious mind likes to know things. lol
I was wondering why this happens to me. I started having sex with my bf of more than a year; about 4 months ago or so. I was a virgin and well it was VERY VERY VERY painful when he first entered me. I honestly began to cry because of the pain. After we were done; I was walking ok, but when I would walk it would hurt me inside. 4 months later after the first time we did it, it still hurts. I mean I am "moist enough" (as my dr likes to call it) and when he enters me; it still hurts me. Most of the time when we are having sex; I have to tell him to stop or pull out because the pain starts kicking in. I some times feel like because of the pain I am not enjoying sex as much as I should or want to.
I asked my dr and she said because I wasn't "moist" enough, but I honestly don't think that's it. Any ideas ladies? thanks!

You know I had to tell him that we should try lube just in case. I mean...we have sex a lot. It's like almost every time we see each other we end up having sex. I get really comfortable; I don’t tighten my body. And as for the whole foreplay thing; I am very playful with him...but apparently the whole fp thing makes him come quicker while we are having sex. It's somewhat of a downer.
It's interesting to say that I have a toy of my own; when I insert it into my vagina (sorry tmi) it doesn’t hurt me. Although I don't think it's an issue of "IF I AM MOIST ENOUGH OR NOT" because I am really moist. Also; after the sex, I get really bad pains on my ovaries...like is something sharp when up there and poked them. The pain is just horrible and it starts from my lower abd. area and I can feel it down to my vag. and ovaries.

I know this is an older post, so I hope you see it. Please check out Vaginismus. It sounds very much like this is what you're dealing with. Look up vaginismus.com & Also check out Yahoo Groups: Vaginismus & Primary Vaginismus. (If you haven't joined a group before, it's easy, just go to Yahoo Groups, search for Vaginismus, and then you can see which group (there are several) you might be interested in. You have to join the group, but the moderator's are really good at “approving” and respond to you quickly, maybe a day at the most.) Don’t be too stumped as to your doctor not knowing or informing you about vaginismus, it is VERY real, VERY common, and VERY treatable, but the word on it is still getting out, not a lot of doc’s know or understand it. And there are thousands of women who are dealing with it and don’t even know it. It took me 17 years to finally get a diagnosis. I saw MANY gyn’s and not one of them Dx’d me correctly until I figured it out by doing my own research and came across these website. Vaginismus.com is a site with doc’s and a lot of good information, and the Yahoo groups women with excellent advice and support and have experience dealing with Vaginismus. Hope this helps.

It could be vaginismus, or it could also be vulvar vestibulitis. To me it sounds a bit more like vestibulitis (also called vulvodynia).  The reason the penis hurts more than the toy could be that the toy isn't as wide as his penis.  If your problem persists, try to find an OB doc specializing in pelvic pain.  At large universities you can sometimes find a pelvic pain clinic.  Whether it's vaginismus, vestibulitis, or something else, a pelvic pain doctor will be able to diagnose it best.
