Persistant Ovarian cyst ( had over 11 years now) and more...

I have had a cyst on my right ovary for almost 11 years now. It is now about 4 cm (when it was first discovered, my then gyno said it would resolve on its own.  I now also have fluid around the cyst as well as endometrial thickening.  My doc had done an endo scrape a month or so back, which came back negative, still she is referring me out to a gyno and after reading a lot here, I am a bit concerned.  I also experience(but have not mentioned to my doc) abdominal pain when I stand up after urinating; the urgency to vomit while having a bowel movement (and brushing teeth); and occasionally sharp, intense pain in the pelvic region with walking and such.  I used to have pain on my right side 11 years ago, but no longer do.  I am also losing weight without trying.

Any ideas what tricks my body is playing on me?  I do not want to have surgery if I do not have to do so.

The symptoms you've described probably are related to that ovarian cyst.  I honestly think you need to have it taken care of since it hasn't resolved on it's own. 99% of ovarian cysts are benign, but you should seek an expert opinion.  If the cyst continues to grow, your symptoms could get worse.  Is your doctor referring you to a gyn/oncologist?

Oh, things I forgot:
I am 47 yr;
have had this cyst before and since the birth of my last child who is now 10 yr;
Have had irregular extremmely heavy periods, soaking a super plus OB tampon and super pad every 1/2 hour for the first two days of period, and again on last, mixed with light spotting between periods;
sometimes have periods with two weeks of most recent, usually very heavy;
have had over 10 misscarriages over my life time, with to live births, both at the begiining of the 8th month, last time I was in preterm labor from 3rd month on;
urgent urination spells, I mean wet-my-pants leakage if I even think I have to go, with usually little to no flow; and,
extreme watery discharge between periods, sometime before blood flow begins, has a yellowish timt and foul odor.

Is that more helpful?

I fully understand the RSD issues.  I had RSD bilaterally in my legs after a car accident in '99 and I had never even heard of the condition before.  Fortunately I had several sypmathetic nerve blocks, 6 months of neurontin, and elavil and it's at bay.  I've also had several major operations since then and it has remained dorment.  Of course that might depend where yours is located and the extent of spread of nerve damage.

Your symptoms are quite concerning though, anytime you lose weight without trying, bladder issues,nausea combined with bowel movements and such, is a big red flag. Oh and your periods don't sound normal either.  Again, this could all be cyst related, but only the doctor will be able to tell you that for sure. Just be sure to share ALL of your symptoms to your physician.

Please let me know what you find out.  I know I haven't been of much help, but I am concerned.

Still, I do thank your, and any toher, input.  As I grow older, I just do not get what tricks my body is palying with me.  I was always worried about breast cancer as my maternal grandma, mother and mothers sister have all had it; only survivor is my aunt so far (knock on wood!)  These symptoms ahve me mistified and feeling like the doc will think I am a, oh heck.. what is the name for someone who thinks something is wrong with them all the time....?......  Anyhow, I am not, my symptoms are real, it just seems a lot to tell a doctor at once --I tried to tell my old doc this stuff and  he only wanted one symptom a visit....and at 95 bucks a visit!

Yes, I get to wait for insurance to approve her referral before I get to go see what they have to say; I see no need for surgery though, it does not bother me other than urgency urination.  I have RSD as it is and do not want anymore incisions to my body to prompt the RSD to spread faster than t already is....
