Does plan B really ruin your chances for having children? Does it cause miscarriages?

No Plan b does not cause miscarriages. It is a emergency contraceptive pill which is consumed after unprotected intercourse within 72 hours. Plan B contains Levonorgestrel and Progestin hormones which obstructs the process of ovulation. It also blocks the sperms from entering the uterus hence preventing the pregnancy.

The pills which you are talking about are abortion pills whose process is similar to  miscarriages. Abortion pills like Mifepristone and Misoprostol which contracts the uterus and the pregnancy is passed out in form of bleeding. I hope your doubt is cleared now.

Hi there.  Plan B is an emergency contraceptive meaning it causes you not to conceive after unprotected sex.  You have to take it relatively quickly for it to work though.  It's hormones that upset the balance so that you can't conceive. Now there is also a pill you can take that terminates pregnancy but typically a doctor prescribes that.  Again, that is a big dose of hormones to upset the balance.

The big rush of hormones will cause a women to have irregular bleeding for a short period of time.  It's not really a miscarriage so to speak but more like a chemical pregnancy (so early that it was more like cells than a fetus).  This does NOT impact your fertility or future of having a child but it is not good to use emergency contraception frequently.  Better to use birth control.  And, it is important to use birth control when you've taken plan b because when you ovulate again is hard to predict and it could be thrown off by the hormones---  so you don't want to risk pregnancy with unprotected sex.  good luck
