Please Help

Hi there, I have a problem that I would like some help on.  I am unable to get to a doctor any time soon, so I would appreciate any assistance that I can get.

I had a lot of sex over the last 5 days - at least 4 or 5 times a day.  I have been sexually active for over 10 years, I have a three year old son, so I'm not exactly new at this, and this is not my first time with this partner.  Over the last few days, I have been totally raw in my outer labia around the vagina enterance.  I have red welts that bleed, especially on the right side.  They do not really look like blisters or bumps or anything, just patches of red with skin missing.  It is very difficult to see from my perspective.  He also was raw after a few days.  It is getting better since we stopped having sex, but still very painful.  My vagina is almost swollen shut.  I started coughing a couple of days ago, but only in the morning, but a very painful, and I am wondering if this could be related.  Then this morning when I woke up, there was a blister on my knee - I have no idea how it got there.

There is no pain when I urinate or itching or anything.  I was not having the nicest smelling discharge during this time, but I figure that could also be from ejaculate still inside of me.  And I can't tell the consistency or color of any discharge as my vagina is too swollen and painful to go inside and check and I mostly get blood on the toilet paper (from where my skin is raw).

So I guess I am wondering if this sounds like an STD or is it that we just over did it.  I am a little worried as nothing like this has ever happened before, and I've been having sex for years.  If anyone could help, that would be great.

Just wanted to give an update.  I was diagnosed with genital herpes yesterday.  So if the above symptoms happen to you, I would suggest going to the doctor and getting it treated.  I've been using the Zovirax ointment for one day and it's helped the pain immensly.  I am taking Valtrex and L-Lysine pills.  Hopefully this outbreak won't last too long.

Symptoms to look for when you have herpes:

-raw, red swollen areas of vulva and vagina (almost looks like little cuts or splits in the skin)
-burning urination (both inside and outside when the urine hits the lesions)
- itching in the vagina and vulva
- heavy, odorless, white discharge

I have no pustules, the little white bumps that you see in pictures, just raw and red. The smartest thing to do, I think, is go to a doctor when something is just not right down there - you never ever know what it could be, and the quicker you get treated, the better it is for everyone.

Thanks for your help!!

I'm kind of figuring that it is that we over did it.  There was nothing on either of us before last weekend, and none of the cough symptoms (which he also has) were present before.  The pain subsides some when I take tylenol and I have switched to baby wipes for the time being to avoid irritating the area with paper.  It appears to be healing, it's not as red today and the areas affected are much less painful than they were even yesterday.  I am also not as swollen.  From what I've read, I think that if it were herpes or something (the only thing it even remotely resembles is herpes) it wouldn't be presenting itself and then clearing up in less than a week, at least not the first time.  And luckily for me, I have been taking antibiotics for something else for a few days, so hopefully I can avoid getting an infection in the raw skin.

I guess if it hasn't completely gone away by next week I should find a way to get to a doctor.  I figure without the discharge or itching I really shouldn't be too worried, but you never know.  But one thing is for sure - no more sex until it's healed!!  I would prefer to never go through something so uncomfortable again!!!

It could be an STI, or it could just be from too much sex.  Did you use lube?  If not it may just be friction that's caused damage to the area and now needs to heal.
