Please answer this Period related question!!!!!!!!!

I am extremely confused and frustrated. A cycle is regularly 28 days (average, spare your knowledge on "exceptions"). Also, it is perfectly fine to bleed for at most 7 days, right? Ok, I bleed 7 days. Two weeks later (12-14 days later) I ovulate (trust me). And 14 days after that, on DAY 28, I get my period.
How is it that the first day of your cycle is DAY 1 of your period?????? That means that if you ovulate on CD7-14 you MUST, by biology ovulate right after the last day of your period???? And so, the "average" woman has TWO, yes TWO, to THREE weeks in between periods only? TWO? I have exactly FOUR, blood free weeks in between. Ever since I was 13. It makes no sense to count the bleeding as part of the cycle, because it is simply the end of the cycle marked by bleeding. Or am I wrong and have a 35 day, or irregular cycle? Wow. I should sue my Doctor, who showed my bloodwork and all analyses and I'm one of the healthiest human beings walking around.

So it's normal to have your period every 2 to 3 weeks? This is very interesting. I have searched more and it seems as though ovulating right after your period, or even a week after is "abnormal" because it makes difficult to become pregnant. I'm confused all over again.

The 'average' is just a statistical number.  It's normal for people to have cycles of between 24 - 40 days.  If yours is consistently 35 days then that's what's normal for you and there is nothing wrong.  Most people don't have 28 day cycles or they don't all ovulate 14 days before their next period even if they have a 28 day cycle.  A lot of people also find that they can be a day or two out every cycle ie 29 one month and 30 or 28 the next.

Your doctor is correct.  There is nothing to sue about.   And yes you do count the days that you bleed in part of your cycle.  The first day of your period is easier to remember than trying to work out whether you bled for 5 days or 7 days and counting the days inbetween.

Irregular would be either missing months or going 28 days one month and 40 the next and then 24 days etc.
