My girlfriend went on the shot 3 and a half months ago. Two weeks after she went on her period and it hasnt stoped in 3 months. Once or twiceTwice-a-day a week she's curled over in pain from cramps and her emotions are completely shot. She told her mom but she wont do anything about it (she's not a very good mother) and wont take her to the gyno. I was wondering if someone out there could possibly give me a reason as to why this would be happening seeing as it should be the opposite. And it would be really nice if you could tell me how serioius this really is, if there are any long term problems that could follow a 3 month long peroiod. I'm extremely worried about her and no one is doing anything to help. Yours would be greatly appreciated.
I can only assume your girlfriend is under 18 is she still relies on her mother. She should go right away to a Planned Parenthood or other low cost/free OB/GYN clinic and tell the doctor what is happening. I have no idea what the problem could be (if any), but continued bleeding and pain does not sound good.
That is very odd that her mother won't take her to the gynecologist, maybe its an insurance or money issue.
I agree with the other person...at least take her to Planned Parenthood. I got the shot once and will never do it again...it did stop my bleeding, but it also messed with my emotions and so forth. its not a safeSafe driving for teens Safe sex birth controlControl Control rx, womanWomen's way are made to have their periods once a month and they should.
That sucks your gf's mom is a *****, but sounds like you care about her...so take her somewhere!! Hope all turns out ok.
I have been on the shot and stopped bleeding all together and had a friend who tried it and bled the whole time. It is a side effect. Everyone reacts differently to it. She should see a gyn and stop the shot, she could become anemic from bleeding so much. If her mother won't take her to her doctor, she could still call the office herself. They will have a nurse or the doctor call her back and give her advice on what to do. They might also be able to talk to her mother for her.
