Please help...

Okay I am 38 1/2 weeks pregnant with my first...  I think I have been in early labor for the last two days.  I have an extremely bad UTI and I have had it since I was 8 months pregnant.  They just now put me back on antibiotics lastnight.  I feel horrible!  I cannot get up get down.  It hurts to lean or sit straight basically I am hurting no matter how my body is resting...  I cannot get a nights sleep...  Lastnight I slept for 2 hours the night before I slept for 3...  I talked to Doctor today about inducing because of my pain...  He said no not for atleast another week.  It took alot for me to ask him that because I was hoping for a completely natural birth (no drugs)  and I know that with inducing you usually end up getting an epidural.  I do not care...  I told my DH lastnight that I would rather have a C- Section before I go through another day like this.  Well now I have to wait a week...  Also I am dilated to a 2 1/2, 80% effaced and having alot of unregular contractions usually about 7 an hour...  They have been that way for 2 days now...  I woke up today with what felt like a broken tail bone...  Is that a common feeling of labor?  My back is killing me no matter what I do...  Is there anything at all I can do for relief I am so desperate at this point...  Thanks for listening...

I had a UTI at 34 weeks and did not know it. I was in for my weekly nonstress test.  I than began labor, which they stopped with meds.  I now at 38 weeks am feeling extreme vaginal pain.  I understand your stress with the UTI I had 4 of them during my pregnancy.  I was on the same meds each time, the pharmacy said they are safe.

Oh I am so mad!  My labor symptoms have almost deminished which confirms that it was caused by the UTI!  :(  Which means I still have longer to go...  The only thing I feel now is though I have a broken tail bone can anyone comment on that?  Is that common?  It really hurts the most in the morning trying to get out of bed or if I have laid down for longer than a few minutes...

Thanks guys...  I guess the doc knows best on the medication I read that sometimes the pros outweigh the cons ecspecially when it comes to UTI's so I am sure they weighed those before prescribing it to me...  I am going to talk to pharmacist tomarrow and see then...

I didnt go into labor for a whole week after the scrapping. I hesitated to go to the docs when I was in labor becuase there was a 20 min gap between my contractions at one point and I thought it had to be a full hour 5 min apart but I was in labor. But just as long as they are persistent. If it makes youn feel better call.

When I was in labor, they let me soak in the jacuzzi even after my water broke.  If you aren't sure, you can call your doc and ask if you can or not.  Or you can get in a warm shower and let the water beat down on your back.

Not necessarily. Your waters might not break until the baby is ready to push out - which by the way is what the waters breaking are supposed to aid with - or else they might have to break your waters for you when you 'eventually' go into hospital to have the baby. If this is your first your body sounds like it's just warming up and doing what it's supposed to in order to limber up for labour. I know it's a drag and you sound like you're sooooo over it already, but hang in there! Your body and your baby won't let you down! My mum always said a woman won't have her baby until she's absolutely had it with being pregnant - but I don't know because on the day I went into labour with all 3 of my babies I felt the best!!!??? If we don't hear from you on one day - we'll all know that you either can't get up anymore to the computer or you've finally had the baby!!! Best of luck!

Also for my UTI the doctor prescribed me Generic Macrobid...  I have read that it is not good to take it at term (38 - 42 weeks) I am 38 1/2 It also said do not take during labor or while breastfeeding...  I think I am in early labor and I plan to breastfeed...  What should I do?!

If he scrapped your membranes then do not take a bath. You don't want to have your water break in the water. I would call the doctors office to be safe if you are feeling that crummy. Scrapping your membranes can cause labor to happen the same day. You can still get in the bath as long as you dont fill it up to the point where your vagina is under water. Just enough for your belly to rest in.

Now I have lost my plug already is it still safe to take a bath?  I have heard otherwise...  And also I think the doc tried to swipe my membranes today at doctor but no water yet...  I have a little blood when I whipe but I think that maybe from the exam...  Though there is a bit of mucous mixed in with it...  It could be the rest of my plug maybe...  I am not sure but is it still safe to take a bath?  Because that sounds heavenly about now!

I agree, a warm bath might help a lot.  Try to sleep if/when you can.  You won't be able to sleep thru your labor!  If you start having some bloody show, regular contractions less than 5 min apart lasting 60 sec for at least an hour, or your water breaks, call your doc.

You can also try ice packs for your back.  Sometimes that helps if the warm bath doesn't.

i agree - sounds like you could be having back labor.  i have a friend who spent an entire day at the beach thinking she had done something to hurt with her back, while she was in labor and didn't know!

Well I know that you went in last night to the doc's office but my friend went into labor due to a UTI (you could be having back labor!. Just FYI. For the back pain try taking a luke warm bath and neel on your knees and let your tummy rest in the water so that it can support the weight. And just lay down take it easy when you can.
