Possible Yeast Infection?

by Chi456, Oct 27, 2009 04:52PM
Hello everyone, I am brand new to the forum and i am hoping someone can help me. I recently was taking prescribed pennicillin and percocet after a biopsy that i had on my thigh. Shortly after i stopped ( a week ago) taking the medicine my left outer lip on my vulva became very swollen, however the swelling went down day by day and is now gone. That symptom was replaced by itching of my clitoris and external surrounding areas, there was no abnormal discharge , i researched it on the internet and i figure that i have a yeast infection. Now i have a thickish whitish yellow discharge but it isn't cottage cheesy like others have described. Right now the itching is still there but it isn't anything like it was its quite a bit better and mostly itchy around the clit area. I read that home remedies for a yeast infection are unsweetened yogurt, garlic and lots of water. I have been applying yogurt to the area once or twice a day and i tried a garlic paste but it stung super bad. I also took a hot bath with apple cider vinegar in the water last night. I guess my question is, is it normal for symptoms to come in intervals like mine have? Also any other treatments to suggest and do you guys think this is what i have? Should i try monistat or something?

Also i forgot to mention i am an 18 year old virgin so intercourse couldn't have caused it, and i have never had these symptoms before.

sounds like a yeast infection to me.  Buy some monistat cream and try it.  Also vagisil can temporarily help with the itchiness.  A lot of times yeast infections occur after taking antibiotics.  The penicillan could have caused it.  Good luck!
