I had an ultrasound about 4 days ago. At this ultrasound the Dr told me that my baby had not grown any in the last two weeks and that I was going to miscarry. I have not had any of the symptoms and I had a few other questions. The tech who did the ultrasound was new to the office and was just learning the instruments and every time she would find the baby, she would then have to look at the board to find the right keys and every time she would move. She also did not ask me to empty my bladder and I had to go pretty bad and I want to know if a full bladder can affect a vaginal ultrasound. I could use any help you can give me.
im sorry to hear what the dr. said. that certainly doesnt sound encouraging.
since this tech. is new, wasnt there someone else in there w. her since she is so new?? did she see the baby?? what were some comments she was making? was there movement? how far along are you? questions!!
before i went in for my appt. i was sent some info. about the ultrasound and they asked me not to go to the bathroom and to have a full bladder during the ultraasound. well, my bladder was SOOOO full, she couldnt see a thing and she asked me to go empty some of it.
i really dont know what to say but to call and go in asap for another ultrasound and this time, either someone else, or if possible, have someone else w. her to confirm. you are in charge here.. be demanding. you dont want to have to suffer through this worry.
She was not making any comments. I don't know why no one else was with her. I am 8 weeks.
I just called to speak with another person from the same office and they told me that everything was done correctly but I feel with all of my heart that they are wrong. I am going on three weeks of "No Development" I would think that by now there would have been some blood or something. I had some blood after the ultrasound, but that was expected since the lady was shoving the wand in so far I could feel it in the back of my throught.
Has anyone else had the same or simular experience. The Dr. wants me to get a D&C but I do not believe that is right. (Personal belief) I am so confused and no one at the Dr's office will answer my questions. It has been such a hard few days.
The other thing that makes me want to get a second opinion is that they did not look for a heart beat. They did the same thing with my sister in law when she was pregnant with my nephew and they wanted her to get a D&C. She refused and now I have a beautiful 2 month old nephew. I am so confused and could use all the advice I can get.
is there a way you could call someone else for another opinion? another dr office? you sound as if you are getting the brush off and thats NOT cool. you have every right to get to the bottom of this. please dont accept what they say. it sounds as if your appts. are quick in and quick out. you deserve more. make another call.
i really dont have exp. w. miscarrying or d/c but i KNOW lots of ladies do and once they see your post, they will be more helpful than i. best of luck and im praying all is well w. you and babe.
could you go to the er? im sure you dont want a sleepless night w. not knowing whats going on.
First, I am very sorry you are going through this. If you are concerned, please get a second opinion or get another ultrasound. They should not argue with you on that. With regards to miscarriage symptoms, I have had 2 miscarriages with no symptoms.
With my first miscarriage, I was supposed to be 10 wks 4 days and the fetus quit growing at 5 wks 6 days. I had no indications of miscarriage. I got several ultrasounds before I finally agreed to the d&c.
With my last pregnancy, I went to my 12 week apt thinking everything was ok only to find the baby's heart had quit a 9wks 4days. I again had no indications that this had happened and ended up with another d&c. This one was absolutely devistating as we had seen and heard the baby twice.
I'm not telling you this to upset you but if you are concerned about this, please do whatever you feel you need to do to discredit or confirm the initial diagnosis. I really really hope they are wrong. I know how devistating the whole thing was for me. I hate hearing about others going through it.
I totally agree with the above comments. What you have to realize is the DR's office is there for you and to take care of you. Not visa versa. The most important for you to understand is that you are paying for these visits. I would demand the respect and service that you deserve for you and especially that baby of yours. If I was being treated that way, I would tell them that they are neglecting me and most of all my baby. They have the responsibility as a Dr's office to treat you in a professional way. Don't let them treat you like this. Stand up of yourself and that little one and demand respect. Take this as an offense and get mad. Demand that they do an ultrasound with someone that knows what the heck they are doing. If they still want do anything then there are plenty of DR's that will.
I worked for a DR who hated to lose patients because once they lost the patients, they lost the money. Look at it that way. Some Dr's treat patients bad because the patients allows them to. They are not messing with one life now though, they are messing with two. Think as if your baby was grown up and being picked on, you as a mother would not allow it to happen. Use this now as the same same aspect and don't take **** off of no one.
Thanks for all of your advice. I am going in to a NEW OFFICE tomorrow morning for another ultrasound. This time they are actually having me drink water so they can do a regular ultrasound and then maybe a vaginal. I will feel much better about whatever choice my husband and I have to make after I get this done. Thank you again and I will keep you posted as to what is going on with my baby.
To all who have helped me so much~
I got another ultrasound this morning and the baby is decreasing in size. I have a D&C scheduled for this week. Thank you all and keep me in your prayers as at this point my husband and I are going to keep trying.
i am pregnant with my third child and went to see my dr for the first time last friday and she said that it looked like whatever had started growing stopped. they took blood then and agian this monday and she said that my numbers dropped from 13,000 and some to 9,000 and some and that could only mean that i would miscarry. she said that it was up to me whether i wanted to wait it out or do a d&c. i had another ultra sound done and was told that they could not see a heart rate. i fel no crampy what so ever. but they figure that my baby stopped at 6 1/2 weeks. does any one have some help they can give me. i don't wish to go through with the d&c but my husband doesn't want me to continue on with the pregnancy because he doesn't want me to suffer if i miscarry as the dr is saying. whatever help you can offer is appreciated
