Pregnancy with Heart Disease

I have a congenital heart disease (PDA) and Rheumatic Heart Disease. Is it possible that I can conceive after my PDA ligation even without mitral valve repair since I have severe mitral valve regurgitation?

Hellow! Thanks for the comment...Well I haven't discussed anything about pregnancy yet to my doctor since my heart surgery is not yet over,  I just posted it just in case I undergo surgery, would it be safe then to conceive...Besides I have an officemate who happen to have five children all normally delivered and are all healthy although she had congenital heart disease. She's to and from the hospital nowadays...

What does your cardiologist say?

Pregnancy puts the heart under a lot more strain.  I would think that a straight PDA ligation would fix the problem but you have other heart issues.

There is a possibility that you could become pregnant but it's probably unlikely that you could carry a baby to term and end up with a premmie if you get far along enough in your pregnancy.

You'd need to be under the care of an ob and a cardiologist so you are probably best to discuss this with your cardiologist.
