Pregnant and taking birth control pill

by mommy2boys, Aug 24, 2006 12:00AM
I just started taking birth control pills aug 7th(which by the way was the first day of my mensus )-I stoppped taking Yaz Aug 16th and then restarted again on a different brand Aug 20th. I had sex Aug 18th and wondering if I could be pregnant based on timing.

I have really sore nipples and bloating. I know those are signs of PMS too but never in the last four years of taking no BCP have I had sore bbs during pms time?

Could the pill be casing my weird symptoms or could I be pregnant?

If you stopped the pill on the 16th, and had unprotected (you didn't specify) sex on the 18th, you could be pregnant.  Or it could be side effects of the pill.  They can be very similar symptoms.

If you had condom protected sex (no breakage, slippage or leakage) on the 18th, then you probably aren't pregnant.  If it was unprotected, you could indeed be.  You might want to take a test in a couple of days, or ask your doctor what to do next.

Contact your doc to see if you should stop the pill and take a test. When I thought I was pregnant a while back and was one the pill they has me stop it right away and come in for a blood test. Just a thought! And yes you very well could be. I have heard that once you stop the pill you can ovulate right away and the sperm can live in you for up to 5 days. Hope this helps a little.

Yes it was unprotected...My husband said he forgot I stopped taking the pill and there ya go.

My stomach is so bloated right now and I feel like I nned to burp, but can't. I have really dull cramps and my nipples hhhuuuuuuuurrrrtttttttttt so bad.

Anyway's do you think if I stop taking the pill that it might make me bleed? That way I would know right?

Possibly. It is worth a shot. If you don't bleed within a few days test again. Keep us updated.

you should take the pill at the same time everyday for the pill to work effectively.  Take a pregnancy test.

hope all is well.
