Pressure in Abdomen After Cyst Removal and Skin Healing

by HH3, Apr 17, 2006 12:00AM
Hello, everyone!

My dermoid cyst removal took place on 3/22/02, almost a month ago.  The cyst was a true, mature dermoid--noncancerous all across the board.

As of the past couple of days, I've been noticing some pressure on both sides of my abdomen.  The cyst had taken up residence on the left ovary:  thankfully, the doc preserved it during my surgery.

These intermittent jabs of pain aren't excruciating, but I've been experiencing them.  My period just finished.

Does this sound like a red flag, or should I wait to see if it continues before I have my next post op appt. with the doc next Monday, April 24?

Also, my incision is healed; the doc used staples because of the skin situation w/the previous 3 c sections.  However, the skin right below the incision, evidently where it got stapled at, has formed a hard ridge and is painful whether I touch the area or not.

Note: I had accidentally popped my incision before my first post op visit, and that is one area that is sore.  To describe it better, imagine taking your skin and putting it in a cookie press and just leaving it in that shape for a while.  I hope that it flattens out and smooths out over time but don't know how long this could take.  You can bet that I'll be asking the doc about this.

I was advised by two [medical professionals] recently to watch out for ingrown hairs around my incision area that might try to mount their attack.  I have never been cautioned about this before.  I don't know why I wasn't told this after my 3 sections.  Has anyone else incurred these after sections/laparotomy?
