Progesterone levels too high?

I'm 9 weeks pregnant. Last week when I was 8 weeks, my progesterone was 48 and my HCG was 195,000. Prior to this my progesterone was lower at 19 and my MD put me on Prometrium. No my Progesterone shot up. I have been reading that normal range in the first trimester is 11-47. I'm still supposed to continue on the Prometrium until week 12. My question is, is this level too high? Will this be harmful when the placenta takes over and will it drop drastically? What are the effects of having a Progesterone level that is too high. I'm affraid it will contine to get higher when I'm still in the first trimester.

this is something to ask your doctor - though it sounds to me like your progesterone was borderline low - and the prometrium would bring it up to a level that would support a PG better. I have only heard of low progesterone causing harm or loss to a PG, not high progesterone.
