Hey ladies! My doctor prescribed provera to start my period.. has anyone taken this before? are there any side effects? Also if i am trying to get pregnant is it possible to get pregnant while on this pill since it is going to have to make me ovulate to get my period right? Any info. is appreciated. Thanks!!
It is sometimes given to "jumpstart" your period in this way, and then your body may take over and ovulate at the next normalNormal saline flush time, which is usually 14 days later if you have a 28 day cycle.
It does not always work for one reason or another. See your doctor if you have no bleeding within 7-10 days of finishing the provera.
As for how you get pregnant, I suggest you do some googling about the normalNormal saline flush female cycle, and about how conception occurs. There are volumes of info on the net about it.
I just recently took it for 10 days and the day I took my 10 day pill I started bleeding. They did lab work on lme and fouond my progesterone level was too low and used it to jump start my period. I know I ovulated a week ago b/c I check cervical muscus and postion and saw the tale tale signs. Hopefully it keeps my period going. My dr says sometimes it is all you need to get it jumpstarted. It doesn't always work the first time and you may have to do it again. Mine worked and hope my period keeps on track.
I'm on my fourth day taking provera and I haven't seen any side effects. You should be okay. Besides, you do only take it for a few days. I'm supposed to take it for five days. Good luck. I hope you're able to regulate your period.
