Pubic Hair Irritation after shaving?

I am a 20 year old female who is sexually active. I am currently in a monogamous relationship with a guy who was a virgin when I dated him and have been with him for a year and a half. I have had two other sexual partners, and was treated for gonorrhea and bacterial vaginosis in December 2016. The gonorrhea came from one of the previous partners I had a year before being diagnosed with it because of unprotected oral sex. Anyways I also have severe anxiety that manifests as hypochondria. (I preface all my questions I ask with this info) So, I shave my pubic area about once a week, sometimes a week and a half. However when I shave, when a week of growth comes in, my skin on my pubic bone area (this excludes my vagina), gets a little red at the hair follicle. There is not actual bump, so my research seems to exclude folliculitis because there is no puss filled bumps. I also get razor burn on my bikini area and ingrown hairs there. But my pubic bone area is different the skin gets sensitive and dry but the red dots/spots go away after I shave. I am just curious to know if this is something I should worry about, or just ignore. I do not know how long in my life this has been going on for me because only in the last 4 months have I become a huge hypochondriac and have become hyper aware of my body. Please help me ease my mind with this.

From one fellow vagina hypochondriac to another, what you're experiencing is normal. If you're noticing that it happens every time you shave, you can count on it being due to that. The tenderness could be razor burn, sensitivity due to a dull razor (which might pull the hairs)... we're all different. But when I shave (which is rarely these days because, as I said, I'm a vagina hypochrondriac and my razor bumps have my googling herpes every time lol) my pubic area becomes so itchy, warm and red that it's almost unbearable. It's tender, it's bumpy... not fun. You may find it helps to shave with the grain instead of against it. Or you may find better luck with waxing. Deep breaths, you're fine. :)
