Question/Update

Please respond fast with your thoughts. I contacted my doctor and went in. She took one look and looked at me and said, "We both know what this is." My judgments were right when I thought it was eczema. But when it's on the vulva it's known as Vulvar Dermatitis. My doctor said to continue using the Vagisil but switch to the maximum strength and I can still use the generic neosporin (plus pain relief) as needed. I'm trying to go as long as I can without it since I know you can actually overdose with creams and ointments. I didn't ask her this since I seen it in my bathroom closet when I got home, but i was wondering if I could use the Aveeno Soothing Bath Treatment? I was thinking of just soaking in the bath with it for about 20-30 minutes (it doesn't have a recommended soak time)

On the box it says:
Dermatologist Recommended, 100% Natural Colloidal Oatmeal.

Relieves Itchy, Irritated Skin Due to:
Poison Ivy/Oak/Sumac
Insect Bites
Rashes
ECZEMA

Soothes:
Prickly Heat
Chicken Pox
Hives
Sunburn

Try not to scratch.  Scratching makes the skin thicken.  Your condition may be Lichen Planus rather than ordinary allergy or dermatitis.
Fungal infections can cause itching too.

If you are into natural products, then apply natural yogurt to the area.

You may be better using an antifungal cream that also has antibacterial properties.

Do not use any soaps or shower gels or feminine sprays.

In between the antifungal and antibacterial cream, you need to apply moisture cream that is suitable for the genitals.
Bathing with oats in the water also helps.

Only wear cotton underwear, no tights or tight clothing.

I used to have this also for years!!! After trying everything topically, nothing worked, it was agony!! I switched from my feather doona to some sheets & waffle blankets and nearly immediately it resolved... Aaahhh  I found thatas long as I stayed only-just warm rather than all cosy it stayed away.

Years passed and since then I have moved to live rurally and am unable to accurately control the bedroom temp  from the wood heater which I require through the night. I still only use minimal blankets and no soap etc but since having (necessary) heat supply at night I've got agony again. Need to reduce my wine and sugar intake and hopefully something will work again this time - I'm in agony!!!

I've been using clotrimazole cream to soothe it a little. Also lately have been using occasional  mild corticosteroid but am tempter to put a strong one just twice to actually have an impact, and have been using an ego brand athletes foot cream as its once a day application called terbinafine hydrochloride 1%. I'am desperate for something. This spoilt my intimacy w my partner at the time, and now when celibate is just aging, I scratch so fiercely that it cannot be good for it, or me,  either.

Your doctor can prescribe you pills to ease your nerves and help the itching. I used to take some pills but I forgot the name. Have you tried benadyrl?

Well, I do recall in a previous post suggesting you had a fungal infection more than likely to be Thrush.

Thrush sometimes does present itself with a white or cottage cheese like discharge, but it also affects the skin and especially where it is warm, dark and moist.  Being overweight creates creases of skin areas where the condition is right for the fungus to thrive.  You can also get it in the mouth.

People whose sugar level is not controlled properly like with diabetes or if the diet consists of too much sugary foods can also get fungal infections of the skin like Thrush.

KaylaMarie25 you are 23.  If you have no money ask your mum to lend you some and get off your butt and get your own meds.  The exercise and the fresh air will do you good.  Your mum has probably got lots of things on her mind running around and looking after the household.  If she responds to you like that, it give me the impression that you do not help her much.
At the age of 23 you need to be responsible for yourself and help your mum.

I remember writing a lot of information about fungal infections in reply to your in other post, so I suggest you look at that.

If you are desperate and have no meds available and can't sleep, have an oatmeal bath and then apply yogurt to your hot and itchy areas to cool the area down.

Cut out all sugary and junk food out of your diet.

If you have sexual contact with your fiancĂ©, he too will need to be treated against a fungal problem even if he does not have any symptoms.  Some men do not present with any symptoms by can still have a fungal infection.

Go back to your doctor for a swab and she can then prescribe the correct medication for you.  You can purchase antifungal oral medication as a one dose, as well as have an antifungal cream.

Best wishes.

Yea. Nothing works. It's driving me insane. And the fact that my mom STILL hasn't got anything for me, I feel cutting off my girly parts. Does what I'm going through some like a yeast infection?

I'm sorry to hear that about your infection. Have you tried taking something at night to help you sleep?

I believe that I now have an external yeast infection. I'm still itchy and slight burning. Now I'm itchy on my inner thighs (the crease where my legs and vulva meet) and the very bottom of my butt and abdomen. My inner thighs are slightly red and raised. (the itching and burning feeling is mainly on my labia majora, usually, on top or on top near the "slit" where hair still grows and sometimes near my actual vagina opening). I was "weeping" on and off for about a week but I thought is was due to scratching but last night I noticed a milky water-like consistency discharge. There was no smell. And the discharge comes and goes. Due to looking up my symptoms, I strongly think I have an external yeast infection. I've literally never had one before and I'm 23. I know that being "on the larger side" contributes to my likelihood of getting a yeast infection. I mean, even my doctor thought it was Vulval Dermatitis (eczema)...I do have eczema though, but apparently not there. I also scratched near my vaginal opening leaving a cut so when I peed this morning and the urine flowed downward, OH MY LANTA did it burn!! I told my mom when I woke up this morning (I only slept about 3 hours due to waking up wanting to rip my girly part off cause it itched/burned so bad) that I think I have a yeast infection. So I asked her that when she goes out if she can get some cranberry juice and some Lotrimin or another form of Clotrimazole and her response was "MAYBE." What the hell? I've been dealing with this issue for a month now and every time I ask her something she always says, "Sorry to hear that" or "I don't know what to tell you, I don't have that issue" or "Figure it out on your own." I mean, I know I'm 23, I shouldn't be running to my mom for everything, but she could at least show SOME compassion. If I had the money, I'd get what I need, but the job I thought I had fell through. This isn't helping my issue but I'm so stressed out. Sorry,  I just needed to vent.

Have you been diagnosed with Rosacea at all?

I had a really bad time with my skin a few years ago.  It went practically raw, was red, sore and extremely itchy, looked like a severe sun burn.  Doctor prescribed with Rosex which is a metronizadole cream and it settled it down very quickly.   I only use it from time to time now when my skin flares up.  As well as protecting my skin from the sun which seems to aggravate it.

Have a great day and especially on Friday.

I too find my irritation and itching gets worse at night.  And I don't shave (anywhere), just pluck the hairs on my chin and long course eyebrow hairs.

Had a bath with oatmeal before going to bed last night and it does help.

Unfortunately, once you have this problem, it never seems to go away.  Settles down with lotions and potions and flares up again.  I've had it for years now.  Had 2 lots of oral Thrush medication after my antibiotics, and am drinking yogurt and taking the lacto(etc) capsules.

The hot weather definitely makes it worse with the sweating.

I think now I'm just irritated since I was an idiot and shaved -_-  I was freaking out cause when I scratched there would looked like dry skin and being the hypochondriac that I am, I immediately thought it was crabs even though I know that it's eczema (my fiance has no signs of crabs, he's not itchy at all). And it's worse cause instead of scratching where the itch was, I'd rub somewhere else in that general area and I scratched myself -_- I need to calm down lol I also realized that majority of the houses in my area has "hard water" which doesn't help with eczema. So the combination of heat, my mom changing detergents/fabric softeners, sweating, having eczema, hard water and being stressed are the culprits of my flare up. During the day I'm fine, but at night (usually within an hour or so of wanting to sleep) is when I start itching. Stupid eczema lol

Thanks a bunch!  I'm so happy someone else understands about trying to get your skin in shape before an event. I'm trying to get my face skin to heal up now too. Almost done but still a lil cracking around my eyes and nose .

I'm glad the oatmeal worked well for you, I used a little in my bath last night too. It's starting to get hot here in Lousiana. Yesterday it was already up to 90degrees. @kaylamarie Enjoy your anniversary. I'm turning 30 on Friday and can't wait to start celebrating.

Thanks KaylaMarie25.

The info on the oatmeal bath is brilliant, I think I will copy it and save it on my computer for future reference.

In fact I may just have some with cinnamon for breakfast too. Yum

Have good anniversary.

The razor did irritate slightly but I'm not feeling as miserable as I have been. And in regards to the oatmeal:
1. Dryness fighting: Oats contain polysaccharides, which become gelatinous in water and leave a fine protective film on the skin, preventing dull, flake-y dryness.
2. Moisturizing: Oats are full of healthy, lubricating fats.
3. Defense building: The proteins in oatmeal help maintain the skin's natural barrier function, which is what ensures that the world outside the skin stays out, and what's inside the skin stays in.
4. Pore cleansing: Oats are filled with natural cleansers (called saponins) that gently remove dirt and oil from the pores.

Had a bath today with the oatmeal.
When I measured out a handful, didn't think that was enough, so used 3 handfuls which was about half a small mug.

I soaked in it, it did sting is some of my tender areas, but it felt great.  Washed my face in the same water too.  The bite I got on it the other day is now feeling much better and my skin feels lovely and soft.

I will definitely be having my baths with oatmeal from now on.

Do you have any information why it seems to work?

Thanks for your advice and input.

Best wishes.

So the "tugging/pulling" feeling was in fact my pubic hair "poking" me. My doctor suggested to trim. I haven't had any itching in 3 1/2 days now. So the irritation went down so I trimmed, took a shower, washed with the Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented Beauty Bar, then dried off and put Jergens Sensitive Skin Lotion on everywhere. Wiped off the excess then put a TINY bit of Vaseline where I didn't trim enough and voila, I feel LOADS better. Good timing too since my anniversary with my fiance is coming up =] <3 (June 2nd)
