It could be that you had a slight bit of calcification in the joint, and it caused a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys bump or spur that, when you made the movement that caused the cracking sound, scraped a small blood vessel which bled a littleLittle noses decongestant Little tummys under the skin and caused a bruised- looking spot. This would be more likely if the 'bruise' is painless. I'm thinking of how blue and green a foot gets when the ankle is sprained, just from bleeding under the skin. Just a guess.
Did your ankle roll at all when this happened? It does sound like a mild sprain. When I sprained mine, I actually heard a pop as if someone was snapping celery in two.
Do you normally bruise easily? Sounds like you just twisted it the wrong way and some blood vessels broke. Does only the bruise it's self hurt or does it hurt to move your ankle around or to put wait on it.
If you were bruising easier than your used to you cood have low iron in your blood ( anemia sp?). It's prob just a typical bruise.
If it really starts to botther you get it checked out or x rayed.
No, i dont think i sprained it, i was just walking,so i cant really explain it, the bruise is a little tender. But other than that absolutly no pain left.

ha ha, we must have posted at the same time. I am pretty fair skinned, and do bruise easier than most people.I am just worried about osteoporosis(sp), i got a -1.5 on one of those heel-bone density tests, but i'm not sure how accurate those are.
The classic first sign of osteoporosis is not a bruise but instead sore back from tiny micro-fractures and slight loss of height. Probably you have a while before any of that or before it's time to have a bone-density scan, but ask your doc at your next visit. They might be willing to schedule a baseline scan so they will have it for comparison in future years, and these baseline scans also analyze your likelihood of osteoporosis in later years.
Oh, i know a bruise isnt the first sign. In the past year i have shrunk almost an inch. I was thinking that maybe it was a stress fracture or something, but it's not that painful anymore.
