Rapid weight gain

I'm 22 and over the last 6 months, I've put on about 23 lbs. I'm not sure what is causing my weight gain. I am really conscious about my eating habits and eating healthy foods. I only drink water and eat foods like low fat yogurt, fresh fruits, vegetables, tuna, turkey, and whole grains. I also don't drink alcohol. There haven't been any changes in my lifestyle to explain my weight gain. Most of it is around my midsection and my arms. I have missed two periods, but I have taken four pregnancy tests and I am not pregnant. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

A hormone test would be good as well.  Hormone problems can lead to weight gain and cycle issues like you have described.

No, I can't feel anything and my stomach looks pretty even. I was always really small and now in the last few months I have gone from a 6 to a 10 and sometimes I can even fit in a 12. It is really frustrating. I don't exercise much but then again I never have..and I live an active lifestyle. I don't sit around at home a lot because Im a full time graduate student and I work part time. Hopefully I can get if figured out soon. I am getting married next October and I want to be back to my normal size.

hi there
good luck at the doctors!!

I am trying to eat healthily and lose weight myself so it would drive me nuts if I gain weight instead like you have.

If it is a cyst you may be able to feel it with your hands when lying on your back . When you are standing up does one half of your stomach appear more forward than the other??

Let us know what happens

I haven't felt nauseous or tired at all. My first thought was that the home pregnancy tests were wrong, but I haven't had any signs of pregnancy. If I were pregnant I would be about 10 weeks along (my fiancé is deployed and thats the last time I saw him) and I feel like I would definitely have noticed other signs of pregnancy by now. Plus the weight gain started about 6 months ago. But, crazier things have happened so I know this isn't entirely off the wall. Thanks for the suggestion! I am going to the doctor next week to see about it but I just wanted to see if anyone knew what could possibly be causing it so that I would be prepared. :-)

Hi there
If I was you I would ask for an ultrasound scan . It may be you have a huge cyst on your ovary.  It is definately something that needs checking out . It could be thyroid problems causing it even.
Not everyone has a pregnancy that is picked up on the home tests  so be prepared just in case they do find a baby when they do the scan.

Good luck with this and please go to the doctors as soon as possible .  It is definately not normal to eat healthily like you are and gain this much weight without being pregnant.

Have you felt nauseaus at all??

Please please post how you get on
