Really worried!!!!!!1

Hey ladies. I hate to take up a post for this, but  I am worried sick. I need my pals from all over the U.S. to help me.  My hubby is a high wire lineman. He got called out on storm work. Last time I taked to him He said he thought he was in Kentucky area. That was last night. I haven't heard from him since! I don't know how bad the storm was. i can't seem to find anything about it. He said so far  he knew  of 50,000 people were out of power. The wind had done a lot of damage. He has been working so hard and driving a lot lately. when he got called out yesterday he was dog tired. I had just made a comment on how pale he looked and he had dark circles under his eyes. I wouldn't worry so much, but his job is so dangerous! It's not like him not to call. Is anybody in an area that got a lot of wind damage? All because he was there last night doesn't mean that's where he is now. Have ya'll heard anything about this storm?? Please help me. I am a worry wart anyway, now I'm totaly losin it!

I know what you are going through.  My hubby is a fireman.  Worry is my middle name.  Chill for a sec.  Just calm down.  You came to the right place.  Someone will answer shortly that knows something about the storm.  Sorry that I don't.  Keep me updated.  I'll check back in a little bit.

you must be so worried - do you have weather channel, or any of your friends/neighbors?  that would be a way of checking.  i think if anything serious had happened you would have heard from his company.  try not to panic - i know, easier said than done.  please check in with us - sending you positive thoughts!

This storm system is just  awful.  It just hit MO and the power is out in over 400,000 homes in Saint Louis (they are saying it could take up to 5 days to restore power to some of these homes); a state of emergency has been called there.
I would guess your husband is working around the clock to restore power and  may not have had time to call.  It is also possible he "can't" call (cell phone dead and no way to charge it since power is out, regular phones out etc.).  Try not to worry - there are many good reasons why he may not have been able to call you.

I know i shouldn't worry , but i can't help it. He ALWAYS calls me. A friend of his just called that isa lineman too. He just get off of a 26 hour shift. he said he hadn't heard from dh. He didn't have a clue where he is. They arn'tworking in the same area. I feel sick. I have rang his phone off the hook. He has a charger for the car,but I guess he's not with the car. I dunno. I'm just flippin out.

lucy is there a foreman you can call? im guessing he is soooo busy. i understand you are worried, but you need to calm down. IF something happened they would have called. he is busy. find something to occupy your time and maybe the cell towers are down too. my thoughts and prayers are with you at this time!!

can you call a number that gives info about the men out working? i really wish i could be there with you. if anyone has anything great to add to this forum ist you. he is ok. he is busy and the towers are down from the storm. i have seen the storm on the weather channel. we dont get storms like that here in california. well unless you are in the mountains. we did have a little earthquake the other day, but darn it i didnt get to feel it. nothing is stranger than your house movin around. but ill take that over a tornado or hurricane anyday. there was a person or two that were on here a bit ago dealing with katrina or whatnot. i wonder what happened to them. you know what lucy.i am so against not using a seatbelt or car seat for kids here. lots of traffic and accidents. my new mission is to figure out a way to get parents to buckel up their kids. how hard is it????? i know where you live it probably isnt as neccessary. but here it is. i will find a way to cause them to have to pay one way or another for their kids safety. with a half a million or more here, and many without a license because of whatever reason ( lots for not being citisenz), i am determinded to get rid of this travesty!!! its a crusade i will not fail upon!

It's 12:24 here now, and still no word. I dont know of a number that I could call. I have been ringing his cell of the hook though. I have left a million messages!
  About the seatbelts. I do agree with ya on that one. My daughters wouldn't,but I do. I have to keep a check on them all the time. Around here the one highway we have is 55. i can get on interstate 77 not far from here too. It's 75. Used to be 70, but they raised it. My kids like to put the neck strap around the back. i do see a lot of little , little kids riding on their Mothers laps too. I wanna smack'em. i can understand years ago when we didn't have ,but dirt roads, cars were actually made out of steel, and speed limit of 25. Here the mountain roads are so curvy it's hard to drive fast. Especially back then. . Not now though.  I can imagine what you mean about there . I know when we go places, out of state, it seems so odd to drive. Everybody is in a hurry. My mil laughed at me so hard when we went to Washington DC. I was stuck in what they call the beltway. Traffic bumper to bumper. Everyones on a cell, they looked so mad. I needed in the other lane so I was honkin my horn and waving at the guy beside me. I hollered roll down you winder. He did and I asked him, really nice, if he'd let me in front of him. lol ... he did! I think he thought I was crazy or something. lol

I would calm down as well hun. I freak out like you do as well. My husband just heard it from me actually b/c he was like 2 hrs late coming home and the roads was icy so I worried. Anyway, I am sure it is the same storm system that hit us  Thurs. and Fri.
Lots of ice and then lots of snow on top of it. I know there are alot of people without power out here in Illinois b/c of it. It is possible that he cannot get a signal to call you. I know here it even messed up our cable internet, along with alot of people being without power, trees broke and down everywhere. It was a nasty storm. I am sure if something happened to him it would of been on the news. Just try to relax (I know easier said than done :) ) I hope you here from him soon

do you have the same power company in your area which your dh works for?  maybe if you call the number for service repair you can talk to an actual live person and find a way to get you routed to someone who can help.  you've probably already thought of that tho!

Just checking in and I saw this thread. I am so sorry you are going through this. He probably is in the trenches with little access to telecommunications of any kind. Hang in there chickie. I hope by the time my post comes up you have some news.

Hey Lucy I live in Kentucky but there is no line problems down here nor Have i heard of any, we had some bad winds a few nights ago and I usually lose power if it rains but I am setting here with power, do you know what part of kentucky I am in south east I will try to help any that I can let me know

The thing is, I'm not sure. I still haven't heard  fron him. It's hard to tell where he is. I know he started in WV. Charleston to be exact. Thn he moved west. i wish I did know. I'm gonna check the map and see . Thanks.I'll let ya know.

hey girl..i havent been on in a while but i saw your post.  i would be feeling the SAME way as you. i too am a worry wart. worse than a worry wart. any word from him yet?? he's probably freaking out himself that he cant call you. i would bet like the others have suggested, cells are down/no service. it makes TOTAL sense. however, i know YOU do not know 100% that cells are down and thats what you are looking for...that 100% for sure.
please post with whats happening. is this the longest you have gone without talking? my guess is that it is but how long was it before this?

I'VE MISSED YOU!!!! Where have ya been?? Glad toh ear form ya. Dh is still missing. No, this isn't the LONGEST . We broke up about ? years ago and didn't take for weeks ata time. We got back together after 3minths. He couldn't live without me. lol At 11 tonight it will be 48 hours! We usually take at least 3x a day while he's at work. I am a mess! So worried, scared, mad, ??? Don't run off. So nice ot hear form you!!

Hi Lucy!! Any word yet?? I really hope so got a call from him last night and are now sleeping with ease.
If not then can I suggest taht you call the company he works for and make them find him. I know the Supervisors have radios to keep in touch with Dispatch and they CAN find him, you just have to make them;)
Call phones ar so great for keeping in touch but sometimes you have to go back to "before" cells phones and do it that way. Short of smoke signals that is:)
I personally don't even have a cell phone. I am sooo hanging on to the good ole days. DH has one that his work pays for and the older kids have the prepaid Virgin phones that they have to keep topped up and so that keeps their time on them VERY limited.
I have no idea why I am rambling about cell phones, just trying to keep your mind busy I suppose.
I sure feel for you, I think we all do. We've all ben "there" at some time or another.

STILL NO WORD!!! It's almost 9 am. I didn't hear a thing last night. The only way I could track him is to call the union hall. THEY ARE CLOSED!! i know he is contracted out to AEP power company. I doubt they wil help me though. I knew when he got into this line of work this could happen, but I guess I did't really think abouti t. I am flippin out. My mil is gonna take the kids to church. I'm gonna sit by the phone. to top it all off, I got up this morn and my fire had died in the furnace. I had to start it from scratch. Ugg before my coffee. It was freezin in here when I got up. THEN I slammed my elbow in the burban door. Don't ask how. Only I could manage that one.  It hurts like H#%%! You wouldn't think it would take this long to restore power. He does the big lines. Not the ones goin to your house.  He just did one taht went up north. It was the 765. Do any of ya'll know about that one? It is the 2nd largest line in the world. Largest in the U.S. People around here protested it big time. I never said a word. Even though I didn't want that line goin thru. It put food on my table.
   Thanks ladies for bein there for me. I wish somebody from the  Tenn. kentucky area would come on. Maybe there power is out. Duh. I'll keep ya'll up to date. thanks again!

i'm sorry i left lucy..the time change here and DD's birthday party earlier/the STRESS i was wiped! so i went to bed. has this been the longest you havent heard from him working i mean. OR is this the longest? i woke up about 2:30 am last night and was "worrying" for you. i actually was tossing and turning. couldnt sleep at all. next thing i knew it was 3:30. finally fell asleep. any word as of today????

Sorry ya missed sleep. Thanks for caring though. Guess what HE CAME BACK LAST NIGHT!!!  After I chewed him a new one, things were great. He's tired and grouchy, but at least I knwo where he is. He had been working non stop, with small nap breaks. They got the power back to everyone though. So, just think - next time your power goes out ,it couldbe my hubby fixin it. you are in Pa, or Md?? I can't remember. I know it's up north. lol He worked in Pa for about a year. Good union moola up there. He worked in Md. Baltimore to be exact.He couldn't handle that part. So, they moved him. Hope your dd birthday went good. I know how it drains ya. All the work is on Mama. I'm sure ya wanted everything perfect too. lol Don't be a stranger. We really miss ya!

phew..lucy! i am happy he's safe and sound! now you can get mad at him! lol! i actually thought maybe you are pms'ing? i mean, having not heard from him is enough, but the pms adds/magnifies the emotions. i think we are around the same schedule and i feel like i am. you were right on with exactly what you said about the b-day party. nervous, was everything perfect? did everyone have fun? did i socialize enough? ugh.
