Removal of old razor bumps

by bodydouble, Mar 15, 2008 04:10PM
At a young age I started shaving w/ out telling anyone because afraid that I should not be. Well i would shave my bikini line and lower stomach w/ razors. I received of course razor bumps but just thought they would go away. Well here I am 29 years old and I hate getting naked w/ my boyfriend because of these bumps. My question is there a way to get rid of these bumps after having them for so many years or am I stuck w/ this for life? If I am stuck w/ these bumps cant I get the shin replaced? I am desperate to rid these bumps please help me anyone.

Shaving against the hair "down there" is one reason why people get them. However, try useing baby oil or some cocoa butter lotion to relieve those pesky little bumps.

You might want to try salicylic acid.  It's an exfoliant, and therefore increases the rate of skin turnover.  You can get it in acne pads like Clearasil, etc.  You have to apply them two to three times a day for about three weeks before you'll start noticing a difference, but they should get rid of those bumps in about a month's time.  If the bumps are red, add Persagel (benzoyl peroxide), but always wear white underwear with this product.

Also, after you shave, you need to disinfect the skin because you've just contaminated the hair follicles with the razor.  Use a clean razor... never put it down touching the counter or anything.  Also, only shave AFTER you've been in the shower for at least a few minutes to soften skin, use warm to almost hot water, and soap.  Don't use shaving cream.  Soap (regular, not antibacterial) is great for killing most germs.

When you're done, apply some Persagel cream.  It's benzoyl peroxide, in the acne aisle in the pharmacy.  It kills most bacteria.  Let it dry before you get dressed, and wear white underwear because benzoyl peroxide is a bleaching agent.  It is very good to disinfect the freshly shaved skin.  You only have to apply it after showering for about 2 days.  Then you can use non-talc baby powder to keep the skin dry so you don't get a yeast infection.

Shaving the bikini line is tricky, but it can be done.  Good luck!
