Restless Legs

Restless Legs

Hi, I've have restless legs at night when Im trying to relax to go to sleep, But now that I'm pregnant its worse! Im currently 8 months, I've had a terrible time trying to get comfy, Between my restless legs and have a watermelon for a stomach..LOL..I can not get to sleep! Anyone know of a way to calm my legs and make em stop wanting to run a marathon when I'm trying to get to sleep? I've tried a pillow between my legs and my husband rubbing them with lotion but it dont seem to help for long. Help!

Thanks!

I know your pain! I had RLS before, during, and after pregnancy. Don't you wish you had that desire to move during the day when you need it!? Ok, so I found that doing easy exercises for about 15 minutes before bed works. I stretch a little, then shift my weight around from leg to leg, squat slowly and gently about 15-20 times, then maybe do some light lunges. Try going for a walk in the evening, too. I know it's not easy to be mobile in your last trimester. All the best!

Now, this is one I can REALLY relate to! The problem is called, Restless Leg Syndrome and thousands of people suffer from it. Apparently, more women have it than men. I've had it for years; it comes and goes but when it comes, it's really miserable. My doctor prescribed a medication for it but I take so many medications already, I decided not to take another one.
If you look this up on the Internet, you can find a lot of good information about it.

This problem has bothered me for the past year and a half.  At first just once in a while and only one leg.  But now it happens about every night after lying down in bed and it often involves first one leg and then the other.  I have tried various home remedies rather than resort to pills.  There has been a good deal of stress in my life in the past year or so and I suspect that is the cause.  I have found only one thing that works every time and stops it.  I figured out it has to do with my brain being too active re problems and that if I could distract my thoughts, it would go away.  So I get up as soon as it starts and go to my computer and  play one of the games:  bowling, Solitare, Crystal Gems.  It forces you to concentrate on what you do and usually in 30 minutes, its gone and I go back to bed.  I get enouogh sleep and there are no side effects accept that you get pretty good at scoring in the games!
and sleep.  Once in a while I get a second spell early in the a.m. and I do it again.
