Usually a cyst on the ovary is one filled with fluid after the egg pops out, and when it ruptures and drains, it is gone.  There are other kinds of ovarian cysts.  Google "ovarian cyst" and you will find descriptions of all the kinds it could be.  Some are very simple and go away naturally and others are more complicated and may need surgery.  Ovarian cysts do not cause cancer.
