STD advise

I was looking for some advice. 6 years ago, my old doctor diagnosed me with genital herpes. I was devastated and very depressed. Despite my situation I eventually got over the depression and moved on with my life but it was definitely life altering. I found out 3 months ago that I was pregnant and I knew that the genital herpes could pose a problem during labor. I informed my OBGYN who tested me again and told me that the test was negative and that I never had genital herpes. I was relieve but also very angry with my past doctor. For six years, I lived with something I didn't have. I had to tell people I was in a relationship with which ended some and made people look at me differently. Should I look into a lawsuit? What would you do?
